Yaya Touré Deal Looks Promising

Barcelona defensive midfielder, Yaya Touré looks as though he's heading for Manchester City.

Speculation has been rife for months that the Ivorian footballer is keen to play in the Premier League, and of course play alongside his older brother, Kolo.

January has not been dismissed but the summer transfer window looks a more realistic option for Mark Hughes to bolster his defensive line-up. A figure of £12million has been mooted with the 26-year-old receiving a weekly salary in the region of £110,000.

He is described as a defensive midfielder renowned for coupling physical power with great technique and ball skill.

Yaya Toure's contract with the Catalan club expires in 2012.

I'd sign him without a doubt, people point to the other numerous defensive midfielders in our squad but he can run, run with the ball, pass and shoot which some of the others seem unable to do. He'd be a definite upgrade in my opinion if we manage to sign him as he is much more than just a tackling, sideways and backwards passing DM.

Oh, okay. Welcome Carlos...
BlueWolfie
He made Barry look like a school girl in the Barca friendly so I'd take him any day of the week. Put the attributes of the tenacious De Jong, height and power of Kompany and the passing range of Barry then add dribbling ability and you've got Yaya Toure.

25 man squads next year remember.... unless we lose players I can't see this happening.
MCFC_Goatboy
It would make even more sense Lando as Goatboy mentions 25 man squads come into effect next season so why make do with players who do a bit of this and a bit of that when we can have a player who has the full range of skills. If this transfer come to fruition then I'd expect to see a departure or 2 from our squad.

this guy is better than all of our midfield., He can attack and defend a true box to box midfielder. with barry+ de jong as a specialist and yaya... i cant see room for others in the middle
tommytheblue
I'd take him but not at the expense of Robbi going the other way.
Thaibluefan
Definately an upgrade in the middle but that could see either DeJong or Barry warming the Berti. At this stage it's just another rumor so we'll just wait and see.
bluesnozza
You'd have to get rid of one of the three. Kompany, De Jong or Barry. The least useful for me would have to be De Jong as he can't play all over the park. He also hasn't proved he's a ninety minute man even though he's had several storming 60 minuters. Toure would be an upgrade on any of the three.

I have my doubts about this story

Anyone know the source of this story? Haven't heard it anywhere else.
