'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Togonator: We Can Be Heroes

Emmanuel Adebayor is the latest Blue to give the hacks an interview this international fortnight. He's been talking to every Blue's favourite impartial paper The Daily Mirror...

There's a definite air of squad focused positivity from City's sky scraping target man but you can hear the groans from Ashton New Road to 34th Street as he takes the decision to comment on sodding Arsenal again. Just what the hacks were after.

On City:

'There is no panic at the club. This is a long-term project. We have a chance to nurture this team and make it one of the best in the world. That's why we bought players like Carlos Tevez, Gareth Barry, Kolo Toure and myself. We've combined with the quality players already here and we feel we can make this club successful.

'Certainly a top four spot is still the aim this season - why not? At the moment you can see that the Big Four are struggling a little bit. Liverpool and Manchester United in particular are finding things tough. So this is the year, everything is open.'

On Arsenal:

'I'm still very pleased that I decided to move to City. I feel fresh and I'm really enjoying myself on the pitch at the moment. People here have treated me well and that was not happening at Arsenal...

'If I had stayed there, I don't think I would have even played. Arsene Wenger didn't actually say that in so many words, but we did have a good discussion. Basically, I was told that I must leave, even though I didn't want to. He said they had come to an agreement with Manchester City and that it would be best for me to go.'

Of course, the countdown to City's League Cup Quarter Final clash with Arsenal at Eastlands is already underway. Even without the absence of the revenge touting but now injured Robin Van Persie, the game will be viewed as a potential powder keg.

how embarrassing for you blues. like a gf who keeps talking about her ex
IrishGoon
Well if gets him up for that game like it did the last one none of us will be complaining Irish!
lando78
true... that would mean another 3 match ban for important games, like the league.
IrishGoon
Don't worry about us Irish Goon, i'm sure we'll get over it when he sticks another one past Almunia. If not in the Carling Cup then down at the Emirates will do nicely.

This is actually a rehash. This is an interview he gave to CNN back in October. I'd imagine the Daily Mirror will be getting a writ from them for claiming this as an exclusive.
Little Dutch
Little Dutch is right y'know. CNN have a video interview here: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/sports/2009/10/30/pinto.adebayor.intv.cnn and it is essentially what is written up there, only the Arsenal bit comes first, and the City bit comes second. Even some of the lines are the same.
BlueWolfie
Quite amusing the way he winds up l'arse supporters though.
fifthcolumnblue
Good old barrel scraping Mirror! Keeps the pot boiling for next month!
Johnny Baguette
The hack responsible is a Mr. Martin Lipman, although I'd suggest he's maybe fleshed this out with recent quotes as Ade talks of there being no panic. Of course, we weren't as out of form last month.
