After tonights below par performance Hughes, Redknapp

Mark Hughes: 'We weren`t good enough tonight unfortunately. We didn`t execute our game plan. We look at every game we play and review the positives and negatives, tomorrow we have more things to address. We can look at guys were missing but that`s no excuse there is a responsibility on everyone and you have to perform at a top club like Man City. We look at the season as a whole we have lost two games I sometimes agree we haven`t won enough, today we were below a good level. It`s early days, we`re in the mix, we have a game in hand but truthfully we want to be higher."

Harry Redknapp: "That was as good as we`ve played. We came out, started well and never took our foot off the gas. Aaron was brilliant, they all were, the team was brilliant. City are a strong side and will be back, in the next 5 years they will get stronger and stronger, but tonight we were the better team and deserved the win. To come here today and to perform like that was fantastic."

Niko Kranjcar: "Throughout the 90 minutes we were the better team, we created better chances and deserved to win the game. We believe we have a squad and talented players who can achieve big goals this season and we hope we will.''

ffs, if we had nothing then what did you have?you lot didn't create 1 proper chance all game and to be honest i didn't think we played great but it was a well deserved victory. niko buy of the season for sure! city, villa and ourselves just need to get the consistency right and the top 4 can be replaced in my opinion. anyway good win for us but good luck for the rest of the season.

Well deserved victory by Spurs - would love to know what MH's game plan was. Didn't expect anything from this game (never do) but i did expect a bit more determination from City.

Dwight, you talk about us having not created one chance and then you say that you can't believe you won. The tactics that Hughesy employed were the wrong ones and you can't take the game to spuds they love that. I bet Wolves won because the kept it tight and they hit Spuds with an early goal. These things happen.

Hughes did not send out City to give Spurs a game. Back to last season's too much respect uber-caution.

Buzz i meant to say i can't believe we won so comprehensively.to be honest after our dull performance against wolves i wasn't that confident before the game and also you guys have only lost one game before this and that was an unlucky loss as well.if we can start putting away games we should then we can have a great season, just like you guys i suppose.

We did have a game plan! Press Spurs in their own half, force them to play loose balls under pressure up to Crouch and Defoe, clear the lines and pass it through them. For nine of our players, this was no problem for the whole first half. For Robinho and Adebayor however, it was too much like hard work. Ade kept dropping at least 20 yards too deep, making short passes in crowded spaces, (crowded thanks to him being there) and we would lose the ball. Robinho was completely absent. Not protecting Silvinho, and not attacking Corluka. In fairness Johhny, I think our game plan was the oppoosite of caution. We went for a goal in the first half. We were just let down by the lazier players. Not once in the first half did Ade stay in the centre, in the final third, and wait to receive the ball and play in another player like Ireland or Tev. In fact, he only did this in the 70th minute, and we had our best chance of the game. The approach play of our team is crisp, high tempo, and accurate. The problem is we have no true centre forward. We looked much better with Rocky on, because the team at least felt they had an outlet. We started to be more direct, and Tevez started to look very dangerous. In January Santa Cruz will play four or five games and we will look much better. Hell, Benjani would have been a better option last night. I'm six two - I could have done better! Adebayor was the first signing of Hughes' (Rob doesnt count) which made me feel nervous. If the truth be told he is already fulfilling the predictions of the Arsenal fans who were glad to see the back of him. Robinho has got to go - his walk to the dressing room: unacceptable. Petrov is surely now the second choice left midfielder after Bellamy. Oh and I've seen Hughes criticised for his substitutions, he was bang on yesterday, and taking off De Jong after he had lost it was the smart move - I'm not sure he wanted to take him off, but he had no choice. The guy was going to get sent off. No doubt. BTW thanks to Dave H for the account help - not sure what your handle is on here, but thanks!
