Your Thoughts On Adebayor

Your Thoughts On Adebayor

Following Emmanuel Adebayor's poor performance against Tottenham on Wednesday some are asking whether he's fit for purpose.

Prior to splashing £25 million on the Togo international several Arsenal fans warned me of his failings, one of which was his poor attitude and tendencies to sulk.

Now that five months have past since he moved to Manchester City FC I wonder what your opinion is of the 25-year-old striker.

Adebayor wasn't great against the spuds but neither was anybody. The spuds game was the first time in ages I remember him missing a decent chance. We create next to nothing for the lad and what we do creat 90% of the time he puts away.

I wrote about this the other day when talking about the midfield falling over each other to get on the ball, sometimes they click and others they seem to get in each others way. Adebayor or Cruz more often than not seem to breakdwon our own attacks mostly. They also come far too deep and do even more damage (to us) when they don't get the ball for longer than two minutes.

He drops too deep, and suddenly we have no players on the edge of the box to work off. He did this once yesterday, on about 70 mins, and we had our clearest chance of the game. He doesnt seem to be prepared to do any of the selfless work that his peers at Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Villa do. Its embarrasing when he challenges for headers, you kow he will just duck out of it. We have so many midfielders/forwards who can run on that he cannot continue to play this way. We looked at times like we could pass the ball around Spurs all nigh, only to get crowded ouot because Ade was not offering an out. I thought we looked much better when Rocky came on. We were much more direct. The arsenal fans are indeed being proved right.

No help and tries to do it himself and then gets critised for it. Every time he got the ball ther was at least 2 to three spuds players around him. Spurs played exceptionally well and harrassed and fought for that victory. We should take note of that. We also treated the match as though we were at home and we were at fault for giving the game to Spuds instead of playing it tight from the back.

Things aren't going well so we need to get behind the players, however, that doesn't hide his performance was last night. He was well marked and was targeted. No-one played well. He is drifting too much though.

Thought he put in a lot of effort on their 3rd goal. He didn't seem to respond much to 33,000 people singing that dreadful song about his mother and father. Maybe all the stuff he said about how much gooners singing it to him made him react was a lie?
