You Think You Big Time- Carlito Is!

City 4 Blackburn 1

City strolled past Blackburn tonight scoring four goals to put them in fourth place in the Premiership and remind everyone that they are looking only upwards from now til the end of the season.

A fantastic goal by a resurgent Micah Richards and a wonderful hat-trick from Carlos Tevez warmed every frozen Blue's night as the Blue Juggernaut showed no signs of slowing down.

Mancini has his team well-drilled and obviously inspires confidence in players as forgotten men Richards, Garrido and Benjani were all played in their favoured positions and all were excellent.

I suggested that Blackburn wouldn't want a hard nights work with their semi-final looming on Thursday and that's just what they got.

City were out of the box like a flash and within minutes Tevez had put them ahead with a good close range finish after great work by Benjani.

Micah Richards started off his well taken goal by running what seemed like the full length of the pitch with ball to feet, beating several Blackburn players before laying off a delightful pass to Benjani. The Zimbabwean's finish hit the post and rebounded into the onrushing powerhouse who finished like a striker to make it two nil.

It was then the Carlito Tevez show as he set up several chances before scoring two wonderful goals to take his scoring streak to ten goals in seven matches and Alex Ferguson's blood pressure to DEFCOM three.

The first was a carbon copy of the goal that Adebayor scored against the same team on the opening day of the season as Tevez ran onto a perfectly weighted pass before smashing the ball low and hard past the helpless Robinson.

If the second was quality the hat-trick goal was sublime as Tevez received the ball in a seemingly hopeless area just outside of the area.

With the full Rovers' defence in front of him he guided an inch perfect shot past Robinson with little or no backlift to earn the match ball and cement the Blues in the top four of the Premier league.

Gamst Pedersen the Rovers' dangerman had curled a well taken shot past Given in between after Kompany miscontrolled, but nothing was going to dampen the spirits of the City faithful who must be thinking anything is possible this year now.

One things for sure, with a run of winnable games and a possible final place just around the corner, Mancini must be wondering what he can do wrong at the moment and long may it continue.

Man of the Match:
Carlos Tevez- World Class

Goal of the game:
Micah Richards for sheer athleticism and perseverance gets the nod over the last Tevez masterpiece.

Good performance with some excellent goals. The real test will come this week, away to Everton who look to be coming into some decent form.

Not a great game for the neutrals but an easy victory over a complacent blackburn. I would not be too excited about that performance, not even 1 good period of possesion football or a good movement to break down of the defence... All i saw was Tevez...

I don't know how many tesrt we need, we have beaten Arsenal Chelsea an d should have done for Liverpool, Robbed at The swamp. All the commentators say its a big test on Saturday, no its not a test, Its a tough match, but we all know that half the season through and still within touching distance. hughesy got us the right players, just didn't quite have the knowledge or backroom staff just to take us that bit further.

Mix26, didn't you see Micah's goal or Benji's involvement in three goals or the fact that City controlled the game start to finish. You should get your arse to Specsavers.

Erm Mix, did I say anything about possession in relation to Micah's goal, erm, no I didn't. If you want proof of controlled possession may I suggest you remove the white tinted glasses and watch it again, or alternatively have a look at match stats. While your at it have a look at the league table.

That was never going to be an easy game against Blackburn's woeful head tennis. Again some of the pass and movement was sensational and you can see the side growing in confidence with each performance. Benjani was outstanding. We've scored 14 goals across our last 5 games and it's starting to tell. Don't forget Adebayor, Toure, Bridge, SWP, Lescott, Johnson, Ireland and Onuoha are all unavailable right now which has made this latest unbeaten run all the sweeter. But as Mancio says, feet on the ground and look at the table in 2 months time.

bwahahaha! oh now u finally got into the top 4 for the first time this season and u wanna gloat mark??? Bluedub please by all means keep amusing yourself with your stats but maybe to some sensible fans on here who are here for opinion could agree that Barry who is your supply probly got about 20% pass completion. your game play consisted of pass to Tevez or bellamy who would run up the wing and then nothing...Or wide to petrov who would hit the first defeders head with his cross. Like I said I was a nuetral not a rose tinted plastic fan like yourself!

Mix26, have a day off mate, I was trying to have a reasonable discussion with you about the facts, but you want to lower yourself to personal insults, I couldn't be bothered. It's the likes of you that give Spurs fans a bad name. Have a look at posts from Black Messi or Norwayspurs on our front page, they both present reasonable debate and don't lower themselves to name calling.

lol a discussion? telling me I should get my arse to specsavers? And I need the day off??? Shame it must be so difficult been so plastic... i think my post was well worthy of debate, in truth I was attempting to pick out the fact that your Italian tactition did a great job in his team selection however i felt the team ur teams performance was sloppy, especially barry. I pointed out that the sheer class of tevez was the reason u guys looked so good and whats even stranger is he only has 3% on the MOTM?

The fact that mix26 is here at all is just a sign of how nervous we're making the spuds fans at the moment. Remember you beating us 3-0 earlier in the season - well, that was probably the high point of your season mate. And as for sloppy performances? The manager has only had 4 games to instill his ideas into the team - not done too badly so far, imagine when he's had half a season? Don't think anyone will be looking sloppy then, except for a few spuds fans with egg on their faces and a Europa League campaign to look forward to.

Mix26, that specsavers comment was light hearted banter suggesting you must not have been able to see the game, that's all. I told you to take a day off after you started name calling. There was a stage in the second half after City got their third where they possibly became a bit sloppy, but to suggest it was a sloppy performance or that Barry played badly is deluded. May I ask what you mean by 'plastic'?

well fithcolumnblue imagine when our manager took over a whole year ago and has taken us too the dizzy heights of 1st place for a few weeks and then maintaining a solid run in the CL spots for a considerable part of the campaign added to that some sintilating performances that made fans drool. Now I really enjoyed thrashing u lot but in my humble opinion we are relishing playing any team at the moment and its a pity Liverpond had to beg for our match to be postponed! By the way its the players who gave the sloppy performance, not your manager, his selection was spot on... Jeepers try and make a short post and u guys are itching for a battle of whos got the bigger Di(k!

Ok fair enough ill leave the name calling out then. Barry was horrid Bluedub, he honestly could not get a pass right(i whatch him cause I feel he should not be in the england team), if it wasnt for De Jong there the game may have turned on you. De Jong is one seriously superp player, what did u pay for him? Also Robinho im tempted to ask for an article on the guy? is he still worth the money u paid?

Correct me if im wrong but I felt from the start of the season that City may have a case of too many big egos to play together. Now there is a serious wealth of talent at your club and most of what ive seen this season is individual brilliance and the very good form of a few players. Against the likes of Everton I honestly feel IMO u may struggle should ur team not play as a team.

De Jong was 18mil, class act. As for Robinho, he's suffering a severe loss of form but I have faith he'll rediscover it, the price tag justified? not as yet but them15 league goals last season really helped us out. I think your wrong about Barry and England, Capello recognised that Gerrard and Lampard needed someone to play behind them to do the donkey work, Barry fits the bill perfectly, who would you have in there instead of him?

Huddlestone or Jenas maybe! City and Spurs have always been the closest of rival whether they like it or not. The fact that the stakes have been raised and we re contesting higher up the table speaks volumes for both managers, clubs and fans alike. Last night's performance played out exactly as most expected, with an early goal defeating Blackburn's resolve with their bigger game to come on Thursday, followed by a moment or two of complacency from certain City players. No big surprises that Pedersen managed a moment of class and that Richards and Tevez shone against Fat Sam's Rugby League team.

Good question, personally although i will openly admit Huddlestone has been superp of late and I was one who wanted him far away from our club, he is proving quite the player of late.

Mix- regarding the Everton game I guess it's a case of wait and see. Perhaps Hughes failed to manage the egos and that's what led to his ousting but Mancini on the evidence so far has City looking like a more cohesive unit( with a number of quality players missing), just like what 'Arry did for Spurs when he came in.

'We have only seen one goal that Manchester City have actually created. That was Tevez's last, that was magic. The rest were avoidable and that is really poor from our point of view rather than Manchester City's outstanding players using their outstanding ability. Sam Alladyce... Perhaps not so far from the truth then was I???

12/01/2010 14:38:00

I still think you're miles away from the truth mate. Sam Allardyce wouldn't know his arse from his elbow nevermind good football. Every post match conference he gives he feels his team should have got something or were hard done by. Maybe if his players actually passed the ball rather than just lumping it up the pitch they might get a result now and then.
