Possible Teams: City v Bolton

Possible Teams: City v Bolton

After the awful performance away at Hull, I for one am expecting a big improvement in terms of performance and effort. Mancini has already said that he expects Johnson and Vieira to start their first games in Blue after impressing with performances from the substitutes bench. I've also heard news that Vincent Kompany is available for selection again after initially being told he could face up to 2 weeks on the sidelines.

Micah Richards could also come back into the side after recovering from a calf strain which he picked up against The Rags at the Swamp. The only other change I would like to see made is Gareth Barry out and Shaun Wright-Phillips in. We badly lacked width and penetration against Pompey and Hull and I would like to see Mancini start with two out-and-out wingers.

As Vincent Kompany returns to the centre of the defence, Boyata his fellow countryman will have to step down. And I think that this is the right time for the youngster to step out of the lime-light. He's done a really good job and no doubt in the future he will be a fantastic player, but I think going back into the reserves will help him. The only only new injury news is that Craig Bellamy as aggravated his knee and is definitely out of the game with Bolton.

Here is the team I would like to see:

City Team:

(4-4-2)

1) Given
-
2) Richards - 28) Toure - 33) Kompany - 3) Bridge
-
8) Wright-Phillips - 34) de Jong - 24) Vieira - 11) Johnson
-
32) Tevez - 25) Adebayor
-
And here is how I expect Bolton to line up:

Bolton Team:
-
(4-5-1):
-
Jääskeläinen
-
Ricketts - Knight - Knight - Robinson
-
Cohen - Muamba - M Davies - Lee - Taylor
-
K Davies (c)
-
-
What team would you go for?

I like your line-up. As a thought, since Johnson can play right or left winger, Mancini can choose Petrov instead of SWP, play Petrov in his natural Left wing spot and put AJ on the right. I like choices, choices are good.... Agreed, as the senior defende3rs come back form injury, Boyata needs to be placed back ont he bench and/or reserves. The senior squad needs to step up and get us through the remainder of the season and into europe for next season. CL would be better than EL but I will take the later rather than nothing. Our youth need to be ready for the call up if injuries continue to ravage our squad. Barry needs a week rest or something because he has been flat out awful in attack/possession. I wouldn't mind seeing Ireland as the attacking center mid. That is his natual position and he deserves a go to see if he still has the touch he had so often last year. Playing him wide is not a good judge of his quality....

Totally agree state-side; There is something desperately not right with Barry, whether it be he needs an operation or a rest. And I do think Ireland deserves a chance at AM, I am still a huge fan of his and think given time and backing will come good again - I wrote about that here - http://man-city-issues.blogspot.com/2010/02/ireland-to-united.html

I dont think mancini will select swp, he just doesnt fancy him. Hed rather have a left footed petrov play right wing. Even at hull he bought on left footed johnson the right, ahead of swp. I really hope adebayor doesnt start despite his two goals, i prefer 4-3-3 with tevez playing alone. We look strong in defence, mean in attack and we win games. Mancini's premier league defeats have all been when we played 4-4-2 at everton and hull. Where we looked disoragnised and a mess. I agree that barry needs a rest, operation or just dropped from the line up. Hes been poor alongside with ireland. Ireland had a great partnership with elano and dejong holding last season. Infact robinho hasnt been the same since elano has left. My team would be - given, micah, toure, kompany, bridge, zableta, viera, ireland, johnson, tevez, petrov.

To me i would never start adebayor as he is lazy and doesn't seem to care just like benjani before him even robinho was more mobile and more likely to do something, isn't it strange that city did way better without the togo post than with him. At the back i would drop toure who is clearly past it and relies on the little pace that he has left to get in out of trouble like gallas he detest having to face long balls and balls in the air and teams have sussed this and he is going to be an accident waiting to happen and against bolton it is a gamble not worth taking, since when does wenger sell a good player. I would play richards at right back as i feel zabaletta is a booking assured in every game, the stupidity of his lunges and challenges are really doing my head but i guess he knows he lacks pace so anything to make sure the players cannot get away from him but micah had been recovering his form and pace but also his attacking game has really gone up tremendously this season. If both onuhoa and kompany are fit then i would play them as i feel kompany reads the game like a prime ferdinand and his calmness brings calmness to the all back four and with ned speed and good aerial ability you have a good combo,i would bring back garrido as he has been way better than awful wayne bridge who is a liability and is now being found out for the rubbish player he always was or even lescott and test his fitness but also his heading ability would be a needed boost to the defence but also a good attacking threat on set pieces and corners. Shame bellamy is injured as i would have loved to see play up front with tevez but right now carlos up top with ireland behind him with shauny and johnson on the wings to make the attack that much more mobile and interchanging . I wouldn't start vieira at his age and slowness he is bound to get caught on the ball a lot of times and might make some reckless challenges that may cost you early on in the game and you don't want that,i would start with barry and de jong even though i think barry is rubbish and overrated i think you need both of them to dominate against a physical side like bolton. And when the score is secure bring on the likes of vieira and adebayor to come and kill the game off and maybe take off garrido and bring some quicker to come and shut shops. I hope you do get top 4 as i despise loserpool with all my hear with that cheating **** gerrard and the bully carragher who cannot defend unless he frightens you into not having a good game .
