City Star Arrested

Manchester City starlet Michael Johnson has been arrested following allegations that he was involved in a confrontation with a Manchester United fan in a nightclub last December.

The MUEN claims that the 22-year-old United supporter was headbutted, before being knocked to the floor and kicked. The 'victim' was said to be singing United songs before approaching Johnson prior to the incident.

Johnson was reportedly arrested on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and has been bailed until March 18th.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police stated: 'Just after 1am on Sunday 6th December 2009, a patrol car was flagged down and an officer was told a man had been assaulted.

'The 22-year-old reported that he had been assaulted in 42nd Street nightclub.

'He had a cut to the face but no other injuries.

'A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and remains on police bail as inquiries continue.'

Johnson, tipped for great things after coming through the ranks at the City's world renound academy, has been out of action since rupturing his knee ligaments on December 10 2009.

Well, if you're going to assault someone, might as well be a Man United supporter.

LOL @Teddy.

Seriously though, it does get on my tits that professional footballers even go to nightclubs and do this kind of thing. I don't think they are aware of how fortunate they are.

Johnno is one of England's finest young talents but it threatening to go pear shaped as his injury problems have deepened. Tragic all told.
Johnny Baguette
Bad news, i hope he gets bloody fit physically and mentally. Although i would have done the same, shows he really does have blue blood

It doesnt matter if he was provoked or not, he should know better. Its a crying shame whats happened to Johnson with injury, and now this. Upside is, one more rag put in his place.

Whether Johnno should know better or not is irrelevant. Everyone has the right to go out and enjoy themselves in peace and quiet without being goaded by some cretin who is out to wind you up because you play for a rival team. Seem to remember Craig Bellamy being assaulted by a rag fan at a bar recently (but declining to press charges). Johnno should plead self defense and the rag fan that wound him up should just get over it rather than running screaming to the dibble in an effort to get a City player in trouble.

Peace and quiet lol take it you've never been to the Indie underworld that is 42nd Street!
lando78
Not been there since about 1997 Lando, but I take your point!
