Disappointing Robinho Bridge Burning Continues

Robinho's abysmal performance as a substitute who ended up substituted himself in City's lacklustre defeat at Everton in January, so pisspoor were his efforts, will live long in the memory and clearly the man who helped dismantle the Republic of Ireland's rubbish defence this week hasn't forgotten it either as Dan Taylor at The Grauniad reveals:

'I spoke to the manager after the game. He admitted to me that he had made a mistake taking me off. It was the first time I have had to go through something like that in my career but I suppose there's always a first time. It wasn't a lack of respect, though. I just think it was a lack of ability on the part of the manager.'

That's a shot at Mancio struck with more venom than anything we saw from Robinho this season.

Could City's manager really have been so confused and apologetic? His track record and standing in the game would suggest otherwise.

Robinho, now settled on loan at Santos in Brazil plying his trade against defences that would struggle in the English Conference league didn't stop there:

'At City, when I was playing, I knew that at some point the substitution board would go up and I was going to come off because the manager didn't have trust in me. Then, you start to lose your confidence on the pitch.'

A return to the Premier League is almost certainly out of the question for this talented player now.

Having already proved he isn't up to the physical challenge, he's increasingly losing credibility with repeated digs at the club who own his signature. These digs will resonate through a support who stuck by him throughout his struggles.
