Burnley Berserker Post Match Reaction

Burnley Berserker Post Match Reaction

City's free scoring players, so often derided by the hacks as mercenaries showed they want success as much as Planet Blue in wretched conditions. Reaction follows...

Roberto Mancini:

The Blues' gaffer was clearly delighted:

'It is a good position to be in and an important one. But it will be more important at the end of the season. We have some difficult games ahead and we need to show the kind of concentration we did.

'If we do that we have a good chance as it is going to be a battle with Liverpool and Tottenham. We played very well, especially in the first 25 minutes, and were focused as we wanted to win the game. We pressed high up the pitch and had a lot of ball in and around the box which gave us some chances.'

And of his MCFC future?

'I am manager of Manchester City and I am happy to stay here.'

Brian Laws:

The Clarets boss was crestfallen:

'The game was over after the first seven minutes. The supporters and myself didn't expect that. They opened us up and killed the game. I apologise to the supporters for an awful display. It wasn't good enough and was unacceptable. I feel I am getting full commitment from the players but I am disappointed and feel let down.

'Everyone is in shock. It was incredible.'

Mancio proving a very cool customer. He must have balls of steel taking on this job when he has done and taking us this far.

This has been coming, it was only matter of time before we hammered someone. Outstanding team display, such a shame the weather spoiled it second half. Credit Burnley for not rolling over, and having a go second half.

All our forwards were red hot today, adebayor was running like his life depended on it. To be honest, burnley were poor. Mancini has taken some unfair stick from the media and hughes supporters. Funny how people were quick to call for hughes to get time and to sign his own players. Why doesnt Mancio get the same treatment. I really hope we get 4th place under him and stick two fingers up to the all the doubters and the annoying jose mourinho fan club (british press)

Great display from the Blues - we should have been 8-0 up at half time. The second half was a non event with all the rain - let's hope we show that passion in all our remaining games.

If the rain had held off this was going for a 10 goal, but the object in the secomd half was to not get injured and although Burnley pulled one back in the second, There was no urgency for City, the job had been done in the first 6 minutes. Well done the lads.

Mancio certainly doesn't seems to have his feet on the ground by the looks of that video link!

Bluedub, I'll credit Burnley for nothing. Their ineptitude around pitch preparation saved them an even bigger hiding. They presented that mess of a pitch on purpose because they knew they'd get beat, great insight of the teams mental frailties, it was a disgrace to see their backroom staff barracking the fourth official about the pitch conditions. I found these antics embarrassing and childlike at best, c**p team,c**p grounds staff.
