'If It's Football, It's Vital'

City Cage Fighter De Jong Ready To Rumble

Midfield savager Nigel de Jong is no longer on 9 yellow cards and goes into City's last five games with a clean sheet and a couple of scores to settle with the rags...

The Dutchman evaded a booking during City's mauling of Birmingham and today told Th'Official Site of his relief:

'I was on nine yellow cards, and the gaffer had pulled me to one side two days ago to tell me he was going to put me in the bench. Another yellow would have taken me to 10, and I would have been out of the United and Arsenal games. Now I'm unleashed, finally I can go on!'

And now, as rag week dawns, De Jong turns his attention to The Blues' revenge mission at Eastlands next Saturday. The man named "City's Cage Fighter" by Blues Legend and rag nemesis turned astute Magic 1152 Radio Commentator Andy Hinchcliffe told The MUEN:

'United need the points to catch Chelsea and they know Arsenal are behind them.'

'They have to secure their place in the top two. We need those points...But it's a derby and there is always more at stake. It would be nice to damage United's title chances but we have to focus on our own goal. Anything else is extra from our point of view.'

And of that 97th minute league defeat to the now unsurprisingly crocked English Patient and that injury time League Cup defeat to the rags other favourite scouser?

'This time we will go right to the end - I promise!'

Taggart and cronies, you have been served notice.

Tottenham lose Palacios for two games, but Nigel emerges unscathed (although his wariness cerrtainly showed in his performance). Maybe the gods are smiling on us? Hope Nigel shows that dirty rag barsteward Fletcher how it's done - hard, clean and fair.

Thought NDJ had one of his quietest games against Brum but you can understand why - now is the time for the real NDJ to stand up and be counted.
