'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Losing Was A Real Kick In The Teeth

Manchester City midfielder, Nigel De Jong admit's the team were gutted by Paul Scholes' added-time winner last weekend but now they have to dig deep and focus on finishing fourth.

The Daily Express reported the 25-year-old Dutch international as saying...

'When you lose a big derby to a goal in the last 20 seconds everybody is devastated in the dressing room.'

'Losing was a real kick in the teeth. We were angry and disappointed but now we have to focus again. We have to use the hurt.'

He continued...

'The prize of fourth place is still there. Losing like we did has just made us even more determined. That was the mood in the dressing room. We will be working even harder to make sure we are in the top four come the end of the season.'

'If we finish fourth, the derby defeat will be forgotten. If we are in the Champions League no one will be complaining about the games against United.'

Nigel finished off by adding...

'People forget this is our first real season together. We are still new to each other, it's not like we have been together for years.'
