Message To Tottenham FC & Their Fans

Manchester City 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur (05/05/10). Congratulations go to Tottenham Hotspur FC and their fans for qualifying for next seasons Champions League.

Gracious in defeat

As a Manchester City supporter I have never said this before about another team but in the end and on the night Tottenham deserved the points and fourth position. As for doing well in the Champions League, well that's another and entirely different topic. In the end we (MCFC) missed out but we still qualify for the Europa League.

I have said this before and I'll happily say it again. The English Premier League is changing. The days of the usual suspects finishing, year after year in the top 4 are over. There are new kids on the block and THFC and MCFC are exactly that.

At the end of last season I predicted Arsenal would be the team who would struggle, but I was wrong, it was Liverpool who ended up the club in crisis. I wonder, out of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal who will be the ones who falter next season? I know who my money's on.

Congratulations Tottenham - you did it.

And the premiership has been great this year, the gap has closed between the top4 and the rest. You could argue Chelsea and Utd are still miles ahead, they probably are but both have aging squads and certainly Utd cant afford to splash the cash anymore. Theres nothing between City, Spurs, Liverpool and not much between Everton and Villa either. Whos to say both MCFC and THFC cannot go abit further next season and challenge for the title? We wont win it but it really isnt that far away anymore. All the best.

Wow! Perhaps City have the 2nd best fans in the world! Many thanks for the kind words at a tough time. Good luck next season. We Spurs can now erase that 3-4 Cup defeat from our memory! COYS

I don't feel I can support the image but if I am being honest they deserved to get 4th this season. They have been stable and worked as a team. City have sacked their manager and complained about world class Brazillians and played 17 defensive midfielders. This season was for us to gel, so Europa football is great, and an achievement in itself. Next season will be a different matter Bobby Manc. We need to be more postive, ambitious and ruthless. If you cannot deliver these qualities then depart. If you can, then you have the whole city behind you. Gutted, but glad its not the same old top 4 and Redknapp has worked wonders. He is just the type of manager that city could do with. Lets hope Mancini can do the same for us next year. COME ON WIGAN!

Yes willy cheers mate. I think thats probably the difference between the sides, in central defence. I rate Kompany as a holding player more than a CB and Toure seems abit lost. A couple of quality additions there and youre a great side.

Good luck to you, in the end it was sooooo close it was unbelievable The only dig at you I will have over tonight was that I really did think I was watching Bolton - Hoof it up to the big man - Hoof it up to the big man - hoof it upt to the big man etc. etc. Those tactics won't get you too far in Europe (and I know you can play better), but your defence certainly looks the business.

Well done for the kind words in defeat. I agree that it is not good for the Premier League that the same 4 teams go into the CL every season. Maybe now Spurs have made it yourselves and Villa or Everton with step up. As Harry said with the right Manager and players you could win the league, with your money, in the next 2 seasons.

i have to admit if the shoe was on the other foot my knee jerk reaction would be to slate City and say they bought 4th, even if I didn't mean it. To come out with this article hours after the match shows how good you lot are, and how much class you show. Thank you lads, fantastic, and when the Reds go under, and they will eventually, you can stand on their grave and laugh for years to come.

Thanks very much for your your good wishes. Quite why we always seem to beat you is a mystery to me but I wish you well and can think of many teams who would not have accepted the result with such good grace. Your time will surely come and if you can take Arsenals place then so much the better. At least now I don't have to be a West Ham supporter on Sunday. It was bad enough cheering for Arsenal the other week.

its rare to see, in the modern game of high expectations, such humble fans and i for one have gained a lot of new found respect for you and your club. as mentioned before, If the result went the other way i would have struggled to be so gracious as many of you city fans so fair play. all thats left to say is unlucky. next year your team will bounce back better and with any luck displace the likes of ar*enal from the top four (along side the likes of us).

Congratulations, thank you. respect to true supporters, week in, week out, we suffer the emotions of being a football supporter, watching and going through hell, last night was a wonderful game of football, in camera shot, my heart goes out to the young city lad in tears with his arms over his friend or brother at the end, showing just how much it means, he will see many good times ahead, come the weekend, two more games mean so much, chelsea and man u, i don't know what corner your all in, but for me, i really hope the title goes to CHELSEA, anyone remember what fergie said in the papers about the chelsea squad before the season started, "to old" in brief.........City go and beat west ham, you will have my support in that one...Good Luck in the future, but not to much A ..:-)LOL

There are many clubs ahead of City I'd rather have us do this to. Being a City supporter must be a bit like supporting Spurs - moments of unbounded joy punctuating long periods of disappointment and unfulfilled desire. But this meant everything to us. So thank you, and I'm pretty sure you'll be getting into the CL sooner rather than later - possibly as Champions (we'll be trying to stop that too!). Go well guys!
