Do Stand Alone Man City Forums Work?

The following article is not meant to sound derogatory to any standalone Manchester City forum but surely banter with the opposition makes life a tad more interesting.

I appreciate its horses for courses - for example the Bluemoon forum, the most successful independent City site ever has proved that standalone Manchester City forums do work. In fact the MEN (Manchester Evening News) front page City related articles drum up a lot of debate, especially from the Rags, but in saying that how many other opposition fans come along and have their say?

Last season saw Vital Manchester City draw in fans from all over the place, especially Aston Villa, Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool supporters. Most of the opposition comments were constructive with the odd high spirited fan stepping over the mark but hey, that's exactly what it's all about isn't it?

Other notable networks which offered fan interaction such as Rivals.net were a huge success, until Sky bought them out. Footymad on the other hand still exist but to be honest their network looks tired and old. However on saying that the said network still has a healthy membership.

Vital Network

I don't pretend that we are anywhere near perfect but what we do offer is fan interaction, but without the stupidity and unnecessary comments.

If you feel as thought you fancy giving Vital Manchester City a go and you haven't yet registered then can I urge you to give us five minutes of your time. You can always register by clicking the below gadget and then you'll be free to add comments, not only on VMC but on the Vital Network itself. It couldn't be simpler.

Vital Manchester City is for the fans; by the fans...

Yep pleased for the Seasiders who have far better fans than our Welsh friends!!

Blackpool is my second team. We left Manchester when I was a kid and moved to Blackpool. My heart was always with City because my Dad was City mad and knew half the team. He bought a TV in 1953 especially to watch the 'Mathews Final'. Half the street turned up to watch it. I saw Mathews and 'Morty' play about 40 or fifty times, but always supported City. My young brother has a season ticket at Eastlands and never misses a game, so I get posted from the centre of the universe at regular intervals. It gets tough for us exiles being so far away sometimes.. Saturday brought a tear to my eye. It was like old times. Tangerine and white. It was said that Stan was the fastest man in the league over 5 yards. I'll be City till I die, but there's always another result I look for. Sometimes it's comical as the 'Bearded Lady' on The Golden Mile. He was an oddball son of rich people who had quietly cast him adrift. He used to make radios in match boxes and he was what you would now call autistic; fortunately only relatively mildly, but enough to render him so odd that he could earn a living by people just paying threepence to come and see him. A long-haired man in another world. Ten years later half the youth of the western world looked like him! Up the 'Pool! Except when you're playing City of course...

That's a classic post Roy. Brilliant.

I'm City till I die, but I LOVE FOOTBALL! Stand alone forums are all well and good, but the best thing about Vital Football is the way it allows me not just to talk to City fans, but to ffans of all other clubs.. Tht's the genius of Vital and why I love this site so much.

Couldn't agree more FCB - I have had some great late night chats with members of other Vital sites.

Thanks Johnny, I always make some kind of a spello boob though because I can never see the whole of what I'm writing.. (it goes off the end, both left and right). I know that this is because I have to zoom in twice for my reply. I have to do this because I do so much work on the damn computer that my eyes are permanently strained. Just a technical note. This time it wasn't life threatening; I just missed an 'as' out in "Sometimes it's as comical as the Bearded Lady....." Oldies going blind with too much computer use didn't seem to effect Yoda... Not to worry. Got gigs in Amsterdam and Paris in the next few days, so my mind's elsewhere at the moment. Will try to write something in the not to distant future. Good luck everyone!

I remember when we beat Blackpool in the Cup in 66 thrird round, the ground was packed, Johnny Crossan Capt and Alan Ball played for the tangerines, They went down that year and we went up. Good to have another northern side in the top flight, Staying there is another problem.

Stand alone sights do work and are quite successful, but you do miss that element of the banter from other clubs, and as Jb says you can see that from the comments on the MUEN in the City section lots of banter between the clubs, here you get it from several clubs fans and for the most part it is all in good fun.

Blimey Roy, I just twigged that you are indeed on in the city of light! 31st? I must try and pop in!
