Manchester City Transfer Legion Marches On

Manchester City Transfer Legion Marches On

And still they come. Or don't come. The VMC Forum's summer transfer 'linked with' thread continues to monitor the players City are 'in talks with' and 'closing in on' worldwide...

You couldn't make it up. And then some. The all consuming distraction of England's World Cup bid has started with a stumble and a stutter, but the hacks tomfoolery in the direction of the Eastlands front door remains constant and a fortnight on from our last update, the number of players linked with The Citizens has swelled again.

As we head deeper into the summer months, a pattern has emerged whereby stories are revisited or revamped as football agents and 'The Street Of Shame's' finest scribes exchange notes over crisps, peanuts and pints. By way of another pattern, previously linked names are trumpeted as having 'delivered a City snub' when they factually end up signing for somebody else or extending their current contracts.

Brace yourselves for many more 'exclusives' as Roberto Mancini alledgedly prepares to 'swoop' for anyone that can string two passes together in South Africa!

- To date, Manchester City have confirmed the upcoming signature of Jerome Boateng of Hamburg, the expected one year contract extension of Patrick Vieira and 16 year old Alex Henshall of Swindon Town has joined the MCFC Academy...

'We know the players who we are interested in. It is a small list of names, because I only want to bring in players who will improve the team.

'Of course we have various options and it is not easy and it is not always possible to do things quickly. We must be patient, and do the right things at the right time in the market. We know the value of the players we are interested in and will not be forced into paying more than we want to.

'I keep reading that I am going to sign lots of players in the summer and am also going to sell lots of players. This is not true, and I am surprised because people know that I already have a very strong squad at Manchester City.'
