Should MCFC Have Tried Harder To Land Eto'o?

Twelve months ago Manchester City FC were reportedly chasing Samuel Eto'o but when negotiations collapsed the Cameroon striker decided Inter Milan would be his next destination.

Figures banded around the tabloids at the time suggested Manchester City would offer his then club, Barcelona around £40m but as we now know the 29-year-old and his advisors decided otherwise.

Throughout his whole career Eto'o has lived up to his potential and seems to score at will, I just wonder if MCFC should have tried harder to land Samuel Eto'o?

Absolutely not; Eto'o is arrogant, unreliable and selfish, just look at his comments regarding playing for his country at the World Cup; 'I could do without this in my career' - the last player City need! Mesut Ozil however....

I agree with you fraser, It would have taken a strong manager like mourinho to control him and we did/don't have one at the Club.

There was no way he would have come anyway and given the choices he had who could blame him - he wanted to be a Champions League winner.

Eto'o arrogant? never knew that! And i certainly wouldn't judge him on the fact that Roger Miller decided to whinge about him not doing enough for his national team, i would get *****ed off myself! Messi has not been banging it in loads for Argentina has he? Im not bitter he decided not to join us.

I'm a chelsea fan, but man city really need player who want to join because of the team and not tge millions thrown infront of them, one player who has done well is Adam Johnson , this is because man city are a massive club in compared to middlesborough so he relishes the opertunitys to play, unlike robinho etc etc
