*UPDATE* Manchester City Capture David Silva

**BREAKING NEWS** Manchester City have reached an agreement with Valencia over the transfer of David Silva.

The official Manchester City website broke the news at 11am this morning.

"The player's advisers and officials from both clubs have finalised the details over a four-year contract, which will bring the 24-year-old to City of Manchester Stadium. He will complete his medical and officially become a City player once his involvement in the World Cup is over."

Nice one. Welcome to Manchester's better half David.
Bluedub

Once a Blue

fabulous news but cue now for the media to start saying hes so lightweight, hes a mercernary etc.I dont care however its great being a city fan!!!!! yaya to follow and we will have the best midfield by far and away.

David Silva's official website - Spannish version i'm afraid - http://www.davidjimenezsilva.com/
Tudor
how did Garry Cook pull that one out of the hat?
arthur7171
Good question authur. He must have offered Silva the world I suppose, not that i'm complaining.
Tudor
Ha well ye said this about Tevez, Adeybayor etc. amd ye only came fifth... sorry it's just i'm a tad jealous. He is a terrific footballer who i'm happy will be playing in England. Even if it is for ye.
birrspur
As an independent observer I was wondering would ye City fans not think that all these egotistical players, who lets face it are in it for the money, might damage the squad with their egos and wallets to match? Maybe i'm just talking out of me arse.
birrspur
Time will tell birrspur but for the moment let is City fans enjoy the moment. As for talking out of your arse...nuff said!
Tudor
Birrspur - name me a professional footballer that's not in it for the money?
Bluedub
Great news and well done Gary Cook, although no doubt his detrctors will find fault somehow.
Wswilly3
Wow what a signing.
HuddersfieldYiddo
Even if you're not a City fan it should be good news we're getting top players in the premier league! Great signing for us though.
me_innit
We've got great players, the task has always been moulding them into a competitive force, hopefully Silva will help us to do that.
arthur7171
I'd like to know the fee but well done all the same.
TheFamousNo7
Take your pick between 26 and 30mil Famous no.7, seems to be what the different sources in the media are doing.
Bluedub
Top top signing im chuffed to bits! Well done city. Im happy with yaya toure, silva and boateng so far.
Super City Slicker
Yaya hasn't said yes yet but somehow I think its just a formality with Friday being the day when most journalists think the deal with be signed sealed and delivered.
tudor
u guyz got to be the favorite now for next season....with players like tevez, silva etc u just simply cant fail
kishaloy_nag_blue
Taggart must be rolling in his coffin at this news, seeing as the rags have been sniffing after him for ages. Sure they'd have made a bid if they had the money....
fifthcolumnblue
fcb are we always the thought on your mind? You're more happy at the fact that we didn't sign Silva than the fact that you did. Petty much?
TheFamousNo7
They are not amused on Vital Chelsea.........

Ah, I bet he feels all lonely and scared - bless!!

He was berated by some as a lightweight when he first appeared, but I've always rated Silva's energy and attitude. He'd fit into any team. He strikes me as being a team man. Some of the games he's played for Valencia in the last couple of years have been wonderful. The only reason he's on the bench for Spain is that Villa, Xabi, Iniesta and Torres are all ahead of him in the current preferred team strategy/set-up and in the queue. He's in the same type of place in that queue as Fabregas. His time will come. It could still be in this world cup, but it's more likely to be in the season ahead. Having said that, he is a different type of player than the five above. My distinct impression from seeing 20 Valencia La Liga games is that he's at his brilliant best on the wing. In modern parlance, he's a midfielder, but for me that doesn't do justice to the old term, Winger, and a left-winger to boot! Very good signing.
roy harper
great comment Roy, especially regarding the important point about him being a team man. His commitment to the team means he should gel very quickly within the squad - like De Jong, Bellamy and Tevez have done. It will be very interesting to see how the team will shape up with Silva and possibly Yaya...

Famous, I just can't resist winding rags up. Seeing as I actually live in Old Trafford, I don't really get to see enough of them in the flesh (no bad thing really, guess they must all be in London or Singapore) so I just have to content myself with doing it on the internet. ;-P
fifthcolumnblue
Jammy baskets...
bowburnmag
Might take you up on that offer Robson and tudor, you know me too well. fcb, fans from London and Singapore is all part of being a global brand you see. Lets hope you achieve that stage someday, though im not holding my breath as i don't believe in miracles.;)
TheFamousNo7
Agreed eigthsin..
roy harper
TheFamousNo7, not even the Veron miracle? Turning wine into water ;-)
RobsonGreensleeves
How long did you spend thinking that one up Robson. Hope you didn't strain your brain when thinking that one up.
