Yaya Toure Signs For City

Yaya Toure Signs For City

Manchester City have confirmed the capture of Barcelona ace Yaya Toure on a five-year deal.

In his three years at the Nou Camp, Yaya picked up a Champions League winner`s medal in 2009, as well as two successive La Liga titles in 2008/09 and 2009/10.

Speaking to the clubs official website, the 27-year-old midfielder enthused: "This is a dream come true, I have always wanted to play for the same club as my brother and I'm so happy that it has finally happened. It's great for our family, we're all so happy about it.

"I'm very happy to sign for Manchester City, I believe we can do well this season and then play in the Champions League next year."

City boss Roberto Mancini was equally pleased following Yaya's arrival, remarking of the clubs latest acquisition: "This is another fantastic signing for Manchester City, and I am very pleased Yaya has joined us, he is a very good player.

"Everyone knows Yaya is a player that we have admired for a long time, and we would like to welcome him to Manchester City. He has played at the top level with Barcelona and I am sure he his experience and ability will be very important for us."

The Ivory Coast international will join up with his brother Kolo and the rest of the squad in time for City's pre-season tour.

He never wanted to go play with his brother at Arsenal? Thats odd. Wonder why he joined him at Cit£h?? lol Ah no, good signing. Your team is definitely looking a lot stronger now. Should be an interesting season!

Money jokes aside Zbam, maybe he didn't want to join Arsenal because Wenger was stupid enough to reject him in the first place

I am suprised you have gone for him, i would of liked him at Arsenal. Suprised because you have De Jong, Vieria & Kompany for the DM position & Barry who sits deep too or am i wrong? Would you really play 3 deep midfielders in Barry, De Jong & Toure or do you think you will see someone?

Can't see Vieira getting too much playing time in the big games TBH Paul_ownz, and to be fair to Yaya, he's been stuck in a holding role for Barca, but actually began his career as more of a box-to-box type player with an eye for goal. Suspect we'll play him there and DeJong will be the out and out destroyer in front of the back 4. Haven't a clue where Barry will play TBH, but with Europa League commitments etc. we will have a lot of games coming up next season and I suspect everyone will get their fair share of games.

He didn't go to Arsenal because Barca wanted him, simples. Nott trying to offend the gooners, it's just simple fact that he was at one of the world's biggest clubs and was playing regularly. As soon as he started being benched he looked to move. We are (for the moment anyway) a step down for him (admittedly an even bigger step down than Arsenal, At the moment!), but the time was right and we have now got his brother. Suspect if Kolo was still at the Emirates that Yaya would have signed for you instead.

Maybe a 4-3-3 formation with Barry & De jong sitting and toure advancing with Silva & Johnson either side of Adebayor? Or a 4-4-2 With dropping De Jong & having Tevez?
