On a more serious note though, Bale won't get anywhere near our first team when we're done with our transfers this summer. Impact sub at best.

Disagree mate....Bale will be a younger and a better left back than anyone who you guys might sign assuming u dont sign Ashley Cole or evra.

Yid: And what about Kolarov, regarded by many as one of the best young left-backs in Europe and in touching distance of Cole and Evra? Bale is an excellent player, thing is he is more of a left winger than traditional left-back and I think Mancini wants someone who can defend well as we were picked apart on the wings too much last season (ie, Lennon against Sylvinho in one of Hughes' biggest ****-ups).

if u did sign kolorov, i dont think he will be better than bale. kolorov is 25, so cant really be regarded as 'young'. he is a decent player but he will take time to settle in the prem. and btw, Bale is more of a left back than a winger. he is improving defensively and he himself as stated that he is more comfortable at left back than left midfield. harry also reckons he has a future as one of the best left backs in world football. he is pacy, strong and has a sweet left foot and is only 21. he can only get better

Take your spurs tinted specs off yid, bale had a purple patch at the latter end of last season and suddenly hes better than kolarov? Not saying hes crap but exagerrating how good he is doesnt do him any favours mate.

may be i am being a little biased but my opinion is that Bale is a super star in the making. as soon as we signed him , he was top draw for the first 6 months under martin Jol (he was barely 19 then). he then had a terrible injury which ruled him out for a year or so and by that time he returned to full fitness, we had 2 managerial changes and he couldn't get into the team. but as soon as he was given a chance, he proved his quality yet again. i honestly believe that he is potentially world class.

me_innit, stop being hypocitcial. Have you ever seen Kolarov? How can you say hes better than Bale?

HuddersfieldYiddo you need to stop being hypocritical as well. You dont need to get all defensive about just cos he plays for spurs. And yes i've seen Kolarov play and he's clearly better than Bale who did a good job for spurs towards the end of last season, nothing more!

Bale is wasted at Left Back - much better midfielder if you ask me. And we ain't short of left sided attacking midfielders just now. Not a bad player though, and will undoubtedly get better.

"Bale who did a good job for spurs towards the end of last season, nothing more"...u are wrong there...its obvious that you haven't been following bale( i dont expect you to) cos ur statement is wrong. so my advice to you is stop pretending to know how good bale is cos u clearly dont.

fifthcolumnblue, i see him as more of a wing back. he is much better attacking from the back. thats not only my view but Harry's as well. i see him developing into a left footed Maicon type of player...he has pace, power, can dribble and has a cracking left foot

YfI - although I rate Bale, and believe to have great potential, to mention him in the same breath as Maicon is way ott.

Y_f_I, overhyping Bale doesnt do him any favours. Are you saying Bale was on fire from the beginning of last season?

Bluedub, i agree.. i rate maicon as the best right back in the world and i always seem to think that Bale is a similar type of player to him..dats all, certainly not even nearly as good as him yet

me_innit, "Are you saying Bale was on fire from the beginning of last season?"...no that is not what im saying. he was injured last season and was out pretty much for the entire season. the season before that, i.e the season in which we signed him, he was unbelievable for the first 6 months, he was just 19 then as well. that was when injury struck. but once he got back fit from that horrible injury and got a chance in the team, he has once again proved his quality.
