Video News: Landon Donovan Rumours

Rumours swirling around both sides of the pond are that Los Angeles Galaxy winger come attacking midfielder, Landon Donovan could be Manchester City FC bound.

The 28-year-old Major League Soccer star spent an impressive loan period at Everton last season and now the American is thought to be weighing up his options on whether to return to the Premier League.

Since joining LA Galaxy in 2005 Donovan has spent loan periods not only at Everton but at Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich.

His current deal at Galaxy, which expires in 2014, allows him to seek loans during the MLS off season.

Cheaper than Milner, but not as much potential, and no sell on value. I'd say if the deal for Milner goes tits-up that Donovan would be a reasonable alternative, but would have thought we could do better.

I'm a little biased as an American, but I think with the right pieces around him he can be a world class player. He doesn't have it in him to be the main guy on the team, so he needs everyone around him.

Might come on loan. Good bench player in the US off season. Mancini looks like he's playing to the US gallery while he's out there. Doubtful he would ever buy Donovan.

This is a non-starter, Mancini was just being polite and diplomatic when posed a potentially awkward question by the U.S. press. But it has led to another million reports and the usual "LOL, City wanna buy everyone!" comments from fans of other times, like when we were going to sign Riquelme, Taiwo, Ramires, Henry, Gerrard, and all those other players we "wanted".
StuMCFC
He's overrated, just because he's the best American player it doesn't make him a quality player, unless you're not looking for true quality I can't see this happening.

Also if i were Mancini i wouldn't go for Milner either espicially for 30 mil! A ridiculous amount for a player who has had one good season.
TheFamousNo7
Donovan is a proven international, a leader and a great professional. Mancini would openly say he wanted a player unless it would be true. Donovan is a ultilty forward who can play either wing, attacking midefield player and support striker. I see him as the replacement to bellamy and swp. It would be great move because i can see him settling in straight away, he would be cheap (8mill or so) and hes younger and less of an arse than bellamy.
Super City Slicker
Have to disagree here Slicker as far as Mancini's intentions are concerned. I believe that this is just a PR stunt. American journos ask Mancini about Donovan and he replies by saying it's "possible", next thing you know City are making back page headlines because they're interested in U.S. star player. City get a shed load of free publicity. I think Donovan is a good player, but not good enough.
