Kolarov Puts Pen To Paper



Lazio left-back Aleksandar Kolarov joins City on a 5-year contract, following the likes of Yaya Toure and David Silva to Eastlands.

The twenty-four-year-old passed his medical, obtained a work permit, and will join up with his new team-mates upon their return to England.

Roberto Mancini was understandably delighted after securing Kolarov's signature, stating: 'I first saw Kolarov in his Lazio debut back in 2007, I was impressed by the speed and strength of someone so young.

'He was composed on the ball had an excellent delivery with his left foot and was technically very able.

"I have watched him a lot since then and so have the Manchester City scouts. His attacking capability is very good. He is fast and can shoot with power and accuracy.

'I am looking forward to working with him,"
the City boss concluded.



Kolarov will compete directly with Wayne Bridge for a place on the left hand side of defence.

los_angeles_villan, anyone who watches even a handful of Serie A football knows who Kolarov is. He is now rated as one of the top left-backs in Europe, probably slightly a notch below the Evra/Cole level but not far from them. He is amazing darting forward and good defensively (better than Bridge at both) and has one of the meaning shots around. He is likened to Roberto Carlos. Quality signing, 14mil is much less than I thought we'd pay for him.

I have espn for espn and bundesliga and i watch la liga on sky sports. Not to mention eurogoals on eurosport. Plus i sneak the odd brasilian league game on record tv (channel 801) when they show it. Im a football nut and many other fans are los_angeles_villan. Ive seen kolarov play on 6 occassions last year and hes a good player.
