Will They, Won't They, My Head Is Spinning

One minute the Mario Balotelli deal is almost done and then reports suggest the contrary. Other reports say Fernando Torres is considering switching from Red To Blue...

...and then there's the situation with Aston Villa's midfielder, James Milner...will they, won't they, my head is spinning.

Mario Balotelli

26th July 2010: Sky Sports news reported earlier this morning that the Inter Milan forward was on the verge of putting pen-to-paper on a five-year deal. Lunchtime came and now SSN say the 19-year-old striker's agent has pooh-poohed the idea and that his client hasn't signed anything.

Other reports coming out of Italy suggest Balotelli should be a Manchester City player within the next day or two and that the Italian U21 international will fly out to join the squad in Baltimore ahead of Saturday's game against Internazionale.

Fernando Torres

26th July 2010: BBC reports...

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini wants to sign Fernando Torres - but only if the price is right.

New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has admitted Torres, 26, is unhappy with the club but any City approach depends on the striker wanting to move.

'Torres is one of the best strikers in Europe and is already playing in the Premier League for three years and knows it very well,' said Mancini.

'But it depends on his situation - his price and whether he wants to come.'

James Milner

26th July 2010: Back to the BBC website...

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is set to hold further talks with James Milner on Monday to discuss the midfielder's future.

O'Neill revealed last week that the 24-year-old England international had expressed a desire to leave the club amid interest from Manchester City.

And with Milner back in training after a month off following the World Cup, O'Neill is keen to resolve the issue.

I am on the verge of loosing the plot and need to lie down.

Time to chill and take stock.

The sooner the better all this transfer talk bolloxology is over and done with. Can't wait to see some ( vuvuzela free ) PL football at this stage.

Ballotelli - Yes, Milner - Yes (though you will get bumped), Torres - No.

Yeah torres wont sign for us. He wants to stay at liverpool or go to chelsea. Do city need milner? As time goes on, i think we can do without him. Its nothing special, unlike yaya as a defensive midfielder or silva as our playmaker.

We don't need Milner imo, especially at the ridiculous price Villa are looking for.

Balotelli looks like a done deal - Too much talk about it to simply go away now... Looks like an exciting prospect but I do wonder if he'll be able to behave once here though. I don't think Torres will join, not sure I'd want him either as he seems quite injury prone unfortunately. Think he'll go to a club that's already in the CL like Chelsea As for Milner - he could be a good substitute for Silva or Johnson - but for the £30M villa want? get out of here! I wouldn't value him at more than £16M...we shouldn't place another bid for him, £20M is already too much.

quite agree with all you have said Blue ponderer

Mesut Ozil would be better value at £10-12million IMO, and can fulfil a similar role to Milner, ie play through the centre or on the wing. He's more creative than Milner, but not as tenacious. Think he would provide much better back up to Silva in the centre and be an automatic choice on the wing. He's rumoured to be interesting the rags, would be nice if we could prevent them from strengthening where they need it most.
