NY Red Bulls 2-1 Manchester City Highlights [HD]

New York Red Bulls beat Manchester City 2-1 on Sunday evening with Brazilian striker Jo getting City's solitary goal.

Robert Mancini said post match that he wasn't disappointed in his team's two Barclays New York Challenge defeats in succession.

'For me it was most important to leave this tournament without injury. We have worked hard for two weeks and it is normal that in this tournament we didn't play 100%.'

'We played seven young players and for me the young players are important for the club so it was good that we were able to bring them to the USA and given them time on the pitch.'

NY Red Bulls: Coundoul, Miller, Ream, Mendes, Hall, Stammler, Lindpere, Robinson, Richards, Henry, Kandji.

Goals: Kandji (7mins), Richards (70)

It's funny how once again Stephen Ireland was given the captain's armband for this game, because according to the Mirror today Mancini and Ireland had a bust up following the Lisbon game. The Mirror wouldn't be full of ***** by any chance, would it?

The Mirror is always full of *****, similar to the Mail.

Ireland said on a online interview some where... "i dont care if i start or if im coming on in the 70th minute. I want to be a part of things here". Ireland i think will be 2nd choice playmaker to silva if mancini doesnt sell him. Back to the football, id like to see mancini player stronger teams in the next two games in america. Playing the kids is good, but the first team needs to build continuity asap. Spurs and sporting played their strongest teams and won some games. Nimely really impressed me, i expect him to play some games this season.

Nimley was very impressive, City's best player until AJ came on.

Good to see that the only scorerin the millionaires club was JOke

In all fairness to JO, he's not been too bad in this pre-season. The Goal he scored yesterday was classy and the one he scored against Portland wasn't too bad either. Don't forget that he's only 23 years old and he must have felt an enormous amount of pressure when joining for that record fee of 19£ 2 years ago, which could help explain the poor performances. I say he should get another chance if he continues to show good form in the remainder of the pre-season.

I think it was the swan song for such as Ireland and Richard who were both given the captains armband - a nice farewell present, methinks
Wswilly3
So Willy3... because Ireland and Richards might be going does that mean City are sinking???
vanilla ice
Hmmm blue ponderer ive been of the same thinking of you lately. Jo performances have been decent and he does have quality. Id still sell BUT his recent displays is giving question for thought.
Super City Slicker
vanilla ice - as you well know City are in the difficult position of having to choose which of their Internationals to keep and which to pass on to less fortunate teams, like yours.
Wswilly3
If Jo does well he might get a second chance and we find he ives up to the hype. Either that or he becomes more attractive to any potential suitors. Win-win situation either way.

Less fortunate teams??? didn't we beat you 2-0 twice last season?
Vanilla Ice
Well if you go by that logic, Wolves beat Champions League-qualifying Spurs twice last season. We also trounced Chelsea twice.

I always say that every time we have a bobbins run of pre season form, we have a sound season. File under Typical City!
