'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Not Long Now

The final match of pre-season is now out of the way and all eyes will be eagerly awaiting the names which will appear on the notice board next Saturday morning.

The starting line-up for last night's match against Valencia CF could indeed be very close.

With Mancini back in the dug out there aseemed to be a greater purpose about the team last night.

Boateng looked very assured in both positions and Kolo Toure, Richards, Lescott & Kompany look at bit vulnerable.

Kolarov must be a certaintly. An excellent full back with proper positional sense and devastating free kicks, is a must, leaving Bridge wondering.

Yaya Toure reminds me so much of Mark Vivien Foe. Tough tackles, 4 strides and he is from one end of the field to the other, telling passes and a genuine all round presence about himself. Assuming we stick with De Jong that leaves Barry, Ireland & Vieira keeping an eye on the team sheet.

Tevez is absolutely gilt-edged. When in previous matches this close season some players looked immobile, Carlos as usual frightened Valencia to death and showed that if if he is disappointed at Argentina's World Cup performance then it probably won't affect him once the season gets under way.

Silva looks a very interesting player who can provde new angles and visions up front. Nervous times for Adebayor, SWP & Bellamy.

Ireland did arrive at the match but very quickly left, I understand. Maybe there is mileage in the swap shop stories surrounding Milner.

I can't wait for the new season to get under way. A few ghosts are going to be laid this season and if these guys can stay fit and free from suspension, it will be awesome.

Just a final word about Jo. An odd character and I think too much under the influence of Elano and Robinho in his early days at City. He might just be the worm that turned. Four foals in the pre-season tells me a good story and with fellow Brazilians now notably absent this young man could come on an fulfil some potential.

Some as we say 'Come on City'. It really is time we beat Spurs.

I have been really impressed with pre-season Jo. A totally different player from this time last year - someone who is definately trying everything he can do get into City's 25-man squad. Somehow I hope he makes it.

If Jo doesn't make the 25 man squad, then definitely expect him to feature in Cup games, for sure. He has certainly shown that he has that knack for goal.

Boy do we owe Spurs one!

Think you'll find we owe them 5 or 6 JB! But one will do as long as they don't score. :-)

Can't wait for Saturday - but not expecting anything better than one point.
