VMC's Some Might Say: Timişoara Easy Street

VMC's Some Might Say: Timişoara Easy Street

Post Match Reaction from the Thursday night Eastlands movers and shakers and the VMC Forum history makers...

Roberto Mancini:

'The result showed the importance of our squad. We have spent very well , bringing in good players, and players that can play in different positions, and can change without problems.

'We had a good focus. If you think it's an easy game then you can have a problem, but we started very well and had a good performance. It was difficult because they had ten men behind the ball, we couldn't find any space at times.'

A relaxed Mancio singled out a number of his players for attention on a night when he seamlessly rotated his squad with 7 changes from the team thay toyed with Liverpool:

The outstanding Vieira:

'If we found another Patrick Vieira that would be important, but it's not easy to find players like Patrick!

The classy Boyata:

'Dedryck is a good player, and he played very well. I'm happy that he scored his first goal. He was ready to step into the team when he was needed, and that is important.'

The quicksilver Silva:

'Silva needs time. He's a fantastic player, but playing in the Premier League is different to La Liga.'

Substitute goalkeeper Shay Given:

'Maybe now we are through, it is possible he will play games in Europe.'

And of City's European quest to reach Dublin:

'In the Europa League, you meet other good teams, but I hope that we can get to the final. It might not be the Champions League, but it is still important. I hope that we can be lucky in the draw. But there are a lot of teams in the Europa League, it's difficult to choose one or another to avoid.

'The Europa League will be important to the development of the team. It is difficult because you play more games, but I think if you can change some players every game you can get there in the end.'

Buzz Lightyear:

'Second string, but all except Jo good enough to get into any Premier team. Disappointed that Timisoara didn't have a go at us with any conviction and appeared to want to keep the score down to a minimum. Good performances all round but not really a testing game.'

Bluedub:

'Decent performance against a very weak side. Shauny MOTM for me, some flashes of the Shauny of old. Good to see Kompany with the captains armband. Chuffed for Boyata, great header from a perfect delivery. Silva's got some magic in them boots, final ball lacked at times though. I was impressed with Adebayor's running, but for homework he needs to write out the offside rule 1000 times. Roll on the group stages!'

StuMCFC:

'I suppose it's a bit selfish but we could have really put them to the sword if we wanted. Our entire team was good... except our forwards, Ade and Jo. Especially Jo was terribly poor, first touch of a kid today and it just isn't happening for Ade. Silva really grew into the game second half and Vieira was terrific. De Jong was immense and would have been my MotM if he wasn't taken off. As is, Boyata was MotM, we have a great young talent here!'

m_ang from Timisoara:

'Well that was it. Scared, small and impotent, that's how we looked today. I don't know why we even bothered to show up on the field. Good luck in both euro league and premier league. I hope to god you end up playing Steaua Bucharest in el and beat the hell out of those b*stards! Thanks Tudor and Buzz for all the kind words and for making me feel welcome here, it's been a pleasure chatting with you guys. Cheers.'

Don't forget to quote me :) ... Anything other than a win would have been a disaster. All the best in the later rounds!

Cheers Vanilla. A draw wouldn't have been a disaster, we'd still have gone through. Poor result? yes, disaster? no.

Thanks VI - too easy but at least the rest of the squad got a run out.
