'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Crocky Santa Cruz Offload Imminent

As the clock ticks down to the end of the transfer window and '25 Man Squad D-Day' it's increasingly likely that Roque Santa Cruz is finished with The Blues...

The big Paraguayan striker has attracted attracting interest all summer from the likes of French Champions Marseille and also clubs in Greece and Turkey.

It transpires this weekend that Italy's Lazio are locked in talks with MCFC to secure a permanent transfer before Tuesday's closure of the summer transfer window.

Lazio coach Edy Reja confirmed:

'Santa Cruz is one of the players we're negotiating with, but I don't know if you could consider the matter closed.'

Since signing for Mark Hughes a year ago after a bizarre series of repeated City bids were knocked back following his knee surgery at Blackburn Rovers, the forward has achieved next to nothing at City outside of an outstanding performance on BBC's A Question of Sport.

However, City's board are prepared to take a massive hit, rather than agreeing a loan on the likeable, ever smiling striker and would be thrilled to bag half of the crazy £17,500,000 that Sparky took the fee to 13 months ago for a gleeful Rovers.

Since that date, Crocky, as he has become unfortunately known around town has started for City on a pisspoor 6 occasions

A disastrous signing by Mark Hughes.

Sad we never got to see the best of Roque. Actually, we never got to see ANY of Roque! WTF was Hughes thinking when he bought a player with such a poor injury record, who was actually injured at the time? The mind boggles. Good luck Roque, hope you get the chance to play somewhere else, but somehow I doubt it.
