'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Quicksilver AJ On A City And England High

The frighteningly talented Adam Johnson has spoken of his joy at scoring for England. The world is his footballing oyster right now. This could be some season for the City wing king...

In an interview which was refreshing in that the 23 year old player chose to talk about not only himself but what his ambitions with his club and country are, he gave a further insight into spirit building within the City and England squads:

'For my club this season I want to win something, go for the title or to reach the Champions League.

'For England I want to get as many caps as I can, try and get in the starting eleven and hopefully score some more goals.'

AJ is reknowned for his level headed, feet on the ground approach and it's clear he's taking the rich promise this season holds in his stride:

'I do feel like I'm settled in to the England camp. There will be no complacency or anything like that, but I'm enjoying every minute of it...obviously I'm getting to know the lads better, even with some new faces around, but there are a lot of City boys, so it's easier to settle in...I'm good mates with Joe, we're of a similar age and both at City.

'We grew up in the Under-19s where we always tried to help each other with stuff. He's relatively experienced now and he's been good just like everyone has.'

All power to AJ and his team mates for England's next test in Switzerland on Tuesday night.

He has always shown a lot of promise and now that promise is coming to the fore. He only needs to keep his feet on the ground to be a big big star.

Played really well for England last night against Switzerland.

loved seeing him play - was a big big mistake not to take him to the world cup - thought just that after the friendlies prior to the summer - nut to leave him out!

Agreed Jim. In Capello's defence, at least he appears to have learned from his mistakes.
