'If It's Football, It's Vital'

This Is My Religion, What's Yours?

I didn't choose Manchester City football Club but rather the club chose me.

This article is not meant to offend any person, religion / faith or be controversial so please, no complaints from born again Christians or the like.

Definition of the word 'religion'.

Strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny,

or

To express belief in a divine power.

Everyone has the divine right to believe or trust in whatever faith you wish and if that means my religion is not the same as yours then fine, great - fantastic, we live in a diverse world and long may we continue to do so.

My religion

Some may say I sold my soul years ago when I decided to devote my downtime to wine, women and football. The wine and the football is still at the top of my agenda but the wife might have something to say about other women, but hey, we all have the odd skeleton locked away in a cupboard, don't we?

As I watch the years roll by and my priorities change (yes, the kids have grown up and flown the nest) I am now in the enviable position to concentrate on an old faith I thought I had lost - Manchester City Football Club.

Some say there is more to life than football, and I have to agree, there is, but just. With the resurrection of my beloved club I sense the urge to believe again and if that means my priorities in life change then so-be-it, it's my life and I'll do what I want (he says looking over shoulder).

Many of our sceptics, especially the tabloids love to put the boot in when they see any glimmer of failure. Good news doesn't sell papers but look for a misquoted phrase from a club employee and bingo, the moguls make a mint.

I don't pretend to be City's number one fan because I'm not. But what I believe in is that we humans control our own destiny (see definition above). If we believe hard enough who knows what we can expect over the coming years.

(Manchester City). This is my religion, what's yours?

God is a DJ

I might as well finish the article off with a touch of class!!

I have followed my beloved team now for more than 60 years so I think I could safely say Manchester City is my religion ......I have seen them go from the heights to the pits but have never lost the faith ....and now it looks like being rewarded as once again we head to the heights.

Man City is a religion, I've been divorced over them, and had girlfriends come and go, but there is only 1 undying love and that is MCFC, AND god played in blue and his name was Colin BELL, WITH Mike Summerbee, and Francis Lee, as his ''Son'' cos Colin Fed him sublime passes which was gobbled up with averice ,and Mike the ''holy ghost'' as he went past defenders as though they were'nt there to cross for the other disciples to feed off and score.... There has been some poor times in the folowing years but the word has spread and the followers have not wavered and are now growing with the Childrens Children going to the games AND being EDUCATED, and NEVER will go to the EVIL side at Stretford..... THIS IS THE WORD OF THE BLUES.... MCFC IS MORE THAN A WAY OF LIFE......

I'm sure a lot of footie fans will agree with your sentiments. I certainly feel the same about Aston Villa, and it's all about faith and belief. From the dictionary definition of faith: "faith involves a concept of future events or outcomes, and is used conversely for a belief not resting on logical proof or material evidence". That's exactly what I've got!! I truly believe villa WILL win the premier league oneday, they WILL win the Champions League oneday, hell they WILL win both in the same season!! This isn't based on logical proof or material evidence (clearly! lol) but on faith. You will probably think my faith is ludicrous, and I yours - that's how religious wars begin lol! Nice article anyway Tudor - Amen to that!!!
