Video: Dedryck Boyata Tackle On Chamakh

Yes Dedryck Boyata did catch the rolling Chamakh, who has certainly joined in the spirit of Arsenal's divers - but he did get something on the ball.

That's what Pedmachine wrote in his Man City v Arsenal match (click here) report but was it a fair comment?

Take a look for yourselves.

Not a red card offence for me i'm afraid. Yellow, yes but not red. Bleedn' Clattenburg (grrr)!
Tudor
How can you say that Boyata got the ball and then say its a yellow card offence?
TPowell
The cop out continues.
Deltaforce
(shakes his head in disbelief) Tudor you are proving something i have thought for a while than man city fans on here are just one eyed supporters who see no different other than city's 'brillance'. You are saying it was a 'yellow' card, now before i say this i suggest you and the rest of your supporters go and look up the rules of football...If you are suggesting it was a yellow card then you are saying it was a foul, and it was of course the last man so therefore it is a red card! What is so hard to understand about that rule! Clattenburg got it spot on no arguments thereforce the ref has done nothing wrong.
P.Avfc
P.Avfc, true he was the last man, but the Newcastle defender who took down Tevez and Vidic in CC final last season against your own club didn't get sent off for taking out the last man because, I suppose (in the referee's view), the attacker wasn't central (much like Chamakh wasn't). One rule for some, another for the rest of us?
StuMCFC
Vidic against Villa also after 5 minutes. Him being sent off could have had a similar effect on the game that Boyata going off for us did. Do you see the contradictory decision making, P.Avfc? http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/47393000/jpg/_47393043_vidic_body466.jpg
StuMCFC
is Clattenberg an 'Apologist' for the Sky4 as every time he officiated in matches that has Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and The Rags, The opposing team 'Struggles' to get a fair match, as 50-50 decisions go to the Sky4, even 60-40 go that way too, as was the case yesterday....how Fabregas did not get a2nd yellow for tha way he 'SCYTHED' down Silva is beyond me......
cityman51
StuM you're obviously a lone voice here on VMC, maybe you should be writing the articles because all I've seen so far from your main guys is complete and utter petulant infantile bile. Maybe its because VMC is so small and you don't have enough dissenting voices that they just write whatever crap they can get away with because nobody cares whether this site is represented well or not. Its a shame because Citeh didn't play badly and you would expect your fans to be talking about the effort your players put in given that they played 85 minutes with 10 men against an Arsenal side that treated this game as one of the most important of the season. But all we have heard from VMC is how we cheated, and how the ref favoured us and how dirty we were, and that we didn't deserve to win. I'm only saying this because I really like the vital network but I must admit I was shocked by your guys response to this defeat.
gronedrone
Ahaahahahha...what was Boyata doing? Daft plum. Ridiculous tackle STONEWALL. To the City fans moaning, fecking get over it. It was a penalty. Jesus, what does a player now have to do to get you to accept reason, and the evidence of your own eyes? Pull out a chainsaw and slice his ******** legs off? I bet so. I bet that if the **** was lying in a pool of his own blood, you'de be like " ooooh, well, he might be dead, but did he make contact"? Ahahhahahahahaa!!! Stop blaming the ref, it's so boring. You're begining to sound like the rags. Oh,and I hate the Arsenal so don't try to tar me with that brush.
Tony Rocky Horror
Shut up Mr groan, why don't you go and visit the 'famous Library Museum' and see where the European Cup could have been if Henry hadn't missed? And City fans, it was a bad tackle. He got it wrong, he should have 'rolled with it'. Don't look back in anger.
Tony Rocky Horror
Stu you make no sense, you need to get to terms with the rules of football because like others you are making a fool out of yourself...I just explained the rule and then you gave me tripe about vidic not being sent off in the carling cup final...Maybe because phil dowd got it wrong, ever though of that? Every player who challenges on the last man should get sent off simple as, stop arguing with worldwide football rules, go learn then because you havn't a clue on football.
P.Avfc
I am not arguign with the rules P.Avfc, I'm arguing with the contradictory decision making. I am not saying Boyata shouldn't have gone, only asking for consistency from the referees. All three incidents I specified had the exact same circumstances of the "last man" taking down the attacker, and only one saw red. There are no doubt hundreds of other examples, many of which would have led to read, a number of which would have led to yellow. Please cut out your petulant attacks at me, I was not saying Boyata shouldn't have marched, only calling for consistency from the often inept Premier League referees.
StuMCFC
If your calling for consistency then you should be saying that the ref made the right choice? If it is the rules then they should be played...All offences like that should be treated with the red card so yes it should be consistent but clattenburg got it spot on and fair play to him.
P.Avfc
P.Avfc - there is nothing in the FA rules that mentions the term "last man". May I suggest you look up the rules yourself.
Bluedub
Oh here is bluedub the other one eyed fan...I think you will find that the rules are that if a player is denied a goalscoring oppurtunity by the oppositions last defender then he should be shown an automatic red card...Not sure what the rule specifically states but i do no what the rule means and so does everyone else...There is no defending boyata unless your a blinded by your own ignorance, he made a foul and prevented a goalscoring oppurtunity, he was the last defender and got 0 of the ball so therefore he is off no questions asked...Well done clattenburg nice to see a reff to his job properly and not be intimidated by the home crowd.
P.Avfc
To all City fans can i suggest we get over this - we lost full stop. Does it matter if Clattenburg was right or wrong? For me he was spot on but i do think Fabregras should have got a yellow for trying to incite the ref into giving Boyata a card. Let's look forward to the next game
Thaibluefan
Only a numb-head would post a video showing catergorically that it was a blatent foul and resulting red card and then claim he got something on the ball. Whether other referees choose to send a player off or not because of the time of the infrintment is by the by, it's not you whou should be moaning ... it's Villa. That was the wrong decision, not this one. Clattenburg had a good game and should be given credit for a good performance in what was a difficut atmosphere. Let it go now chaps, you're embarassing yourselves.
Rocky7
This is silly City fans. Don't get a reputation as moaners. Focus on the good (and bad) things about your own team and stop looking for scapegoats. You'll get an awful lot more respect that way. For what its worth I abhor players crowding round the referee trying to influence decisions. But lets face it, Arsenal are not the only culprits. Nor are they the worst offenders. And if the fair play stats are anything to go by we are not the dirtiest team around either.
Wyn Mills
Spot on Wyn Mills i though city did okay with 10 men so they should stop moanin and get there heads our their backsides and get over the fact the ref made a great decision.
P.Avfc
Oh here's P.Avfc personally insulting me again. Why are you calling me one eyed? Did I mention anything about the incident?
Bluedub
Because you see nothing wrong with your team, whatever happens with another club and yours it's always city who are in the right or better, sometimes people have to hold there hands up but some people never do and you give that impression off on me like the spurs fans do on here. You tried to make me look small by trying to make a comment about rules which frankly i was right, maybe not in the way i put it but the rule is there and atkinson got it spot on...If you wasn't trying to stick up for boyata and defend him then what was the point of making a comment to me? Trying to cause an argument or change the subject? Because alot of fans are on here pointing the fact out that you are embarrasing yourselves by trying to defend boyayta? Maybe thats the reason.
P.Avfc
The reason I posted is because I thought it was a bit rich you suggesting City fans should look up the rule when you yourself were misinterpreting it. I have refereed at junior levels and get sick to my back teeth of people shouting last man, when that term is not used in the rules. Your follow up when I pulled you up on it is closer to the actual rule, in that you will be sent off if you deny someone a clear goal scoring opportunity by impeding them, which by the by Boyata did do, but hey that's my opinion and everyones entitled to their own.
Bluedub
Im a blue through to the core but i have to say he prob deserved to go..... you have to ask yourselves guys that if it had been at the other end, we would have been in uproar if it had not been a red..... The lad will learn from this and hopefully not make the same mistake again.
belfastblue
Bluedub you are proving you are just a one eyed supporter, i have heard only 3 people (all city fans) claiming it wasn't a red card but it was a foul...Boyata did not touch the ball, chamackh was through on goal and he took him down from behind, he DID have a goalscoring oppurtunity and boyata was the last defender meaning that it is a straight red care...Thank you clattenburg, one of the few referee's who doesn't care what the whining home fans had to say about it through there deluded eyes.
P.Avfc
P. Do me a favour and actually read my post, I said he deserved to get a red. You really do beggar belief sometimes.
Bluedub
I do apoligise, i got tudor's unusual comment at the top mixed up with you...He thought it was a yellow card so he thinks it was a foul so therefore it should be red so clattenburg got it right :/ I will end this with you bluedub because if you agree with everyone that it was a red card i dont see where the argument is coming from with us.
P.Avfc
Congrats to VMC, this is easily the crappest most inaccurate and quite frankly ridiculous article you have posted and going by recent examples, that takes some doing.
LondonGooner
He got something on the ball? So it wasn't even freekick?
gronedrone
Thats what come city fans probably think gronedrone some strange people...The ball didn't change direction although he 'apparently' touched it, baffles me!
P.Avfc
I think you are easily baffled p.avc but you are amusing ! generalising city fans is a pet habit of yours. A whole lot of us say that the ref's decision was correct so why beat up about it. Next weekend's games are nearly here, concentrate on those and that applies to everyone.
Oziman
Not really ozilman, doesn't make sense what some of you are saying. There are a whole bunch of you who say the decision was correct but there are some who still question it like tudor and the fool pedmore who makes articles which makes him look foolish.
P.Avfc
Everyone is entitled to their opinion mate and you are giving yours. Every Vital site have fans with different opinions so ours is no different to them. Your team either wins or loses most times with a few draws in between so getting too emotional about it is a bit daft. What do you think? I reckon it's always better just to have a beer and think that the next time you play a team that has just beaten yours, you'll score a big win against them.
