'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Video: City Blow It With Seconds To Go

Two minutes into injury time and Etherington goes and snatches Stoke City a late equaliser. Typical City?

Johnny On The Spot

Micah Richards went from hero to villain inside 10 minutes. A terrific late winner looked to have sealed a thoroughly professional away City victory, only for him to be caught out of position bunching City's solid defence in the centre and allowing Stoke in through the back door to Planet Blue's total frustration. However, City remain in 4th spot with a mouth-watering Champions League decider coming up against Bolton, yes, Bolton before a run of games which City must surely be looking to capitalise upon and win in style.

We learnt plenty about this City side, more so than in that superb win at Fulham. Stoke away is a fixture dreaded by the league's footballing sides and as usual Stoke carpet bombed The Citizens resolute defence initially, but slowly found themselves up against a City side prepared to mix it and dish it out in equal measure.

Some of City's possession football and interchange of passing was again full of confidence and sumptuous. There is much to take heart from even though two points and ground at the top have been painfully lost.
