Sporting Fixtures On The Brink Of Being Decimated

The big freeze is expected to last at least another two weeks with heavy snow falls anticipated in many parts of the country. But what does this mean for the UK's sporting fixtures?

Saturday saw several football fixtures postponed due to snow and frozen pitches and with more bad weather on the way how many outdoor events will fall foul to the weather?

Some parts of Wales saw temperatures plummet to -17C (a record for November) last night and with the whole of the United Kingdom shivering in well below seasonal average temperatures spectators are certainly in for at least a fortnight of misery.

At the present time Wednesday night's Europa League fixture against Red Bull Salzburg at the City of Manchester Stadium goes ahead but that could change at a moments notice. We at VMC will of course keep our readers abreast of any developments.

The following video was filmed on Sunday 28 November 2010.
