Manchester City Football Club Ambassador and wing legend Mike Summerbee has spoken today of his bemusement over Tevezgate but maintains that the club will prevail...
The former City and England player had this to say over the former rag loan star turned City hotshot's decision to quit Eastlands:
'It is a bit upsetting it has got to this situation because he has been such a good player for us, but Manchester City will go on and we are only going one way - upwards.
'...things are going so well...we are in such a good position and played ever so well on Saturday. That win in itself shut a few mouths because it proved we can survive without Carlos.'
Buzzer was full of praise for City's hard line boss Roberto Mancini who has withstood astonishing pressure and repeated speculation and challenges to his authority repeatedly to guide his team to the Premier League summit:
'We have a good manager who knows exactly what he is doing. He knows creating a winning football team is not just about one person. They used to speak about Lee, Bell and Summerbee in the same way as they did about Law, Best and Charlton...But none of us could be the players we were without others around us. It is exactly the same with Manchester City now.'
Summerbee expressed his bewilderment at Tevez's stance but had words of caution for the hacks and mischief makers proclaiming the beginning of the end for MCFC:
'Carlos Tevez is a wonderful player and a nice person, so I really don't know where all this interference is coming from...Bert Trautmann was a great player. Francis Lee and Colin Bell were great players. Bobby Johnstone was a great player...They all left but this football club continued. The club will be there forever.'
