Mancio: Tevez, Carry On Scoring



It's another European week for Manchester City, yet unsurprisingly Tevezgate dominated Roberto Mancini and Patrick Vieira's Juventus press conference...

Mancio, post eye surgery and sporting the type of spectacles that only he can look cool in, calmly fended off relentless questions about Carlos Tevez from drooling hacks:

'We started the season, which is an important season for us with this group of players, and we have this group for this year...Carlos is an important player for us, so I told him he must stay here. Carlos has a three-and-a-half year contract as our player and I hope he continues to play with us, and to score for us.'

Mancio is clearly unconvinced that a beaming Tevez training with the squad at Carrington today as if nothing had happened is genuinely discontended at Eastlands:

'I hope he can continue to be unhappy because he has scored ten goals, has played very well, and we are in a good position in the table. I hope he can be this unhappy for the rest of the season...I don't think he is really unhappy. I want him to stay and be an important part of the team.'

However, the upbeat City boss, the absolute opposite of Sir Alex Ferguson's crestfallen demeanour at his post Wayne Rooney transfer request press conference intends to speak to Tevez on Friday morning before deciding upon who will lead City out against Everton next monday night:

'I have been in Italy and Carlos has been in Tenerife for three days, but I will meet him on Friday. I want to speak with him before making a decision.'

It's surely a dead cert that Tevez will have to relinquish the armband considering his actions of the past week.

The Juventus clash hardly got a look in at the presser and City's Communications Team had to force a change of subject.

However, focus is key now and Mancio shares the concerns of the City faithful that his squad must continue to perform well despite Kia Joorabchian's increasing efforts to destabilise the team:

'I am disappointed because I think we are in a good moment. We have a good position in the table and I think our focus must be on that.'
