Džeko Edin For Arsenal?

The Bundesliga newswires are ablaze with the rumour that the Bosnia & Herzegovina and VfL Wolfsburg goal machine Edin Džeko will make his Manchester City debut at Arsenal next week...

The countdown to the mid season blockbuster at The Emirates Stadium is well under way with City eager to give The Arsenal a proper game following a painful 10 man reverse at Eastlands two months ago.

Džeko ticks all the right boxes for a modern era Manchester City signing. He's early to mid twenties in age with plenty of miles to go on the clock ahead of upcoming finanical rule changes, and is an established international hungry to win major honours.

The giant striker also fits the bill for a Roberto Mancini squad which carries a more than combative edge, awash with tall athletes who take no prisoners.

German dailies the 'Wolfsburger Allgemeinen Zeitung' and 'Bild' are saying that Džeko's people met with City officials before The Citizens thrashed Aston Villa and are talking up a Bundesliga record €30 million transfer fee rising to €35 million should The Blues qualify for The Champions League inside 5 months time.

For his part, Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness is refusing to speculate on what is about to happen in the coming days in contrast to Mancio's cool assertion that Džeko could sensationally fuel a Manchester City Premier League title win, but it's widely accepted in Germany now that the target man's arrival in Manchester is imminent.

With the erratic Emmanuel Adebayor and the dreadful Roque Santa Cruz both primed to leave City in the coming days, news that Džeko, (who scored his first Champions League goal against the rags at the swamp) could be about to bolster City's firepower will be very well received by an Eastlands faithful brimming with confidence and growing belief.

With Balotelli and Tevez already 17 goals to the good in the league, this lad could provide the spark for a serious charge at the top.

Bolster is an understatement. With Dzeko and Tevez you'll win the league!
bernio3000
can't see it. even if we sign him in the first 2 days of the window he isn't gonna be playing 2 days later. also the slight problem of tev and balo banging in goals left right and up t'middle. maybe he'll get a run out at some midlands canon fodder. unleashing him on wolves would be a nice touch considering where he's coming from.

Mancini really wants this fellow. Watch ESPN and see the nets bulge all over Germany then from next week Sky get relly annoyed that he does the same in the Premier League as boring boring City head for the title
pedmachine
Immense buy. Icing on the cake if he is available for Arsenal.
Hosko
It's almost a done deal, everything seems to be agreed. The problem now will be offloading Adebayor and Santa Cruz, the two lankey forwards Mancini has been wanting rid of, who Dzeko will replace both of (possibly also Jo, the third lankey forward, but he may be retained for the smaller games still). Dzeko is a world class talent with a better goalscoring record than Torres had before setting the Premier League alight. He would have to settle but almost all of Mancini's signings have, with time to settle, showed plenty of quality and/or potential since joining.

Be interesting to see how you play with him and if it doesnt work, whos out first, Dzecko or Tevez?
liamyid
Well we play a front three combination of Tevez/Balotelli/Silva/Johnson right now. Dzeko would be the fifth man. Five players for three spots is not unreasonable considering we're in three competitions and someone always seems to get injured or suspended. Do you not have Crouch, Defoe, Pavlyuchenko, Keane, and van der Vaart (as an attacking midfielder-cum-forward like Silva) in similar style with Redknapp targetting another forward like Adebayor or Carroll?
StuMCFC
Stu, you are forgetting Adebayor in that Spurs combination mate!
Johnny Baguette
This really is fantastic news. WOW, just imagaine a frontline of Tevez, Dzeko and Super Mario. Blimey, just thinking about it makes my knees go all wobbly.
Tudor
...a fair few rival defenders legs would do likewise Tudes!
Johnny Baguette
Amazing player. Hed look like a pr1ck though in a front three with those pair of ********* Tevez and Mario what a pair of clowns they are. At least it will give you chance to get rid of one of them

Good grief.
Johnny Baguette
Go on then Huddersfield, name me two Spurs B0ll0cks (oops, I meant strikers) that have scored 17 goals between them this season.
fifthcolumnblue
17 goals between Mario and Tevez, that is nothing, try 3 goals between saha, yak and beckford, now that is the more amazing stat. Wouldnt mind giving Adebayor to Everton??
Rob-EFC
You can have him Rob, although I can't see him taking the massive paycut needed to go down the other end of the M602 - and our owner's have made it clear that they are no longer prepared to subsidise any of our players wages if they go out on loan.
