The Bundesliga newswires are ablaze with the rumour that the Bosnia & Herzegovina and VfL Wolfsburg goal machine Edin Džeko will make his Manchester City debut at Arsenal next week...
The countdown to the mid season blockbuster at The Emirates Stadium is well under way with City eager to give The Arsenal a proper game following a painful 10 man reverse at Eastlands two months ago.
Džeko ticks all the right boxes for a modern era Manchester City signing. He's early to mid twenties in age with plenty of miles to go on the clock ahead of upcoming finanical rule changes, and is an established international hungry to win major honours.
The giant striker also fits the bill for a Roberto Mancini squad which carries a more than combative edge, awash with tall athletes who take no prisoners.
German dailies the 'Wolfsburger Allgemeinen Zeitung' and 'Bild' are saying that Džeko's people met with City officials before The Citizens thrashed Aston Villa and are talking up a Bundesliga record €30 million transfer fee rising to €35 million should The Blues qualify for The Champions League inside 5 months time.
For his part, Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness is refusing to speculate on what is about to happen in the coming days in contrast to Mancio's cool assertion that Džeko could sensationally fuel a Manchester City Premier League title win, but it's widely accepted in Germany now that the target man's arrival in Manchester is imminent.
With the erratic Emmanuel Adebayor and the dreadful Roque Santa Cruz both primed to leave City in the coming days, news that Džeko, (who scored his first Champions League goal against the rags at the swamp) could be about to bolster City's firepower will be very well received by an Eastlands faithful brimming with confidence and growing belief.
