Aston Villa Favourites To Take Adebayor

According to the Daily Telegraph Aston Villa have made tentative enquires about taking Emmanuel Adebayor off Manchester City's hands.

The paper said the Togolese striker's £160,000-a-week wages at City would be a major stumbling block that would scupper any likelihood of a permanent transfer, but Villa manager Gerard Houllier is understood to be keen to explore the possibility of a six-month loan deal due to concerns over the form and fitness of his current pool of forwards at Villa Park.

Ade has only managed eight Premier League games this season and is known to be way down the pecking order to an extent that he struggles to get a reserve game. In fact rumour has it the 75-year-old tea lady is thought to have more of a chance of getting into Mancini's starting 11 than Adebayor.

What a pity especially as we Blues had high-hopes for the 6 foot 2 inch 'Bambi-on-ice' look-alike.

Dont really know what went wrong for Ade. He played pretty well last season considering all that happened with the ACN etc. A quality player that Mancini just doesnt particularly fancy. I dont think City would loan him to Villa, if we are looking to get rid then he will go to someone who can actually afford him.

I'm sure if you lowered the Price tag we would take him off your hands so we could afford his wages, if you kept him on the bench for the next 6months it would cost you over 4million pounds in wages. Also since we are no challenge for you this season we could seriously do some harm in taking points off the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd, which could be just the best investment you could make, i think you owe us that much for us taking that waste of space Ireland off your hands.
Villa 4 Ever
We were afraid (not) that Ireland was going to flop at Villa Park. He had one great season with us and then quickly went downhill after that. To be honest I don't know what happened as he's shown he can do it at the top level. As for Ade - if it was up to me you could have him for free.

Never ever heard this link before so i cant see it happening. A loan deal may be possible due to us not being a threat to you and your amibitions anymore as spurs, arsenal etc are. Doubt we will pay full wages though.

the last thing we need at the minute is a guy who doesn't pull his weight and has an attitude so the question we need to ask is will he be worth it? i say no he's not. city are gonna find a lot of the players signed in the first and second transfer windows (since winning the owners lottery) difficult to get rid of because of the wages they were put on to sign them because basically they weren't worth that amount.

Couldn't agree with you more Noggin. Hughes didn't seem to have much regard for how a lot of the players he brought in would behave, and it has most clearly cost us. Mancini has taken Hughes' good buys (Kompany, Tevez, DeJong, Barry, Zabaleta & Toure) and surrounded them by much better players who seem willing to worrk for the team. The likes of Bridge, Adebayor and SWP just seem to think the world owes them a living and can do one ASAP. Adebayor would be a good short-term fix for Villa provided he takes a pay cut, but he would almost definitely think he was doing you a favour and not vice-versa. Good luck to you if you do get him, he's most definitely got some talent underneath that sulky exterior!

Adebayor was identified as trouble as with a couple of other players and sidelined. Departure imminent.
