Edin for Manchester, Edin for Spain

Edin for Manchester, Edin for Spain

Have you noticed that after weeks and weeks of speculation, news item after news item, suddenly yesterday when transfer windows opened there was nothing about Edin Dzeko other than a statement that he had gone to Wolfsburg's closedown training camp in Spain?

With 47,000 packed into Eastlands yesterday, many hoping that there might be a New Year's present in the form of Dzeko, it looks as though there is a stumbling block.

Newspapers today tell us that City didn't offer him enough money. He wanted £170k per week, we offered 'only' £120k. And this is the player identified as he who could help bring the title to Eastlands, share the goal burden with Tevez and Balotelli! We are arguing over £50k per week when we are paying poorer footballers ridiculous money.

It is refreshing today to see Khaldoon get involved. A very astute businessman at the best of times, he clearly does not intend to see this deal derailed. Surely £50k per week in City terms could almost be described as penny-pinching!

Stories also abound about Arnesen coming from Chelsea to act as Director of Football. Although it is expected that this will not affect the current incumbents as Arnesen operates in a different area, if the Dzeko transfer falls through this could see the P45 come out for someone!

Let's get real. An additional £50k per week pales into insignificance if City were to win the title and secure Champions League football next season. Get this guy in and get him into the team. A soft introduction against the Foxes, then up and at the Wolves.

Haven't you learned yet that throwing money at diva's is not the answer?? :D
02/01/2011 12:13:00
Where are you from? At least we don't throw it at divers. And any way we can, unlike whoever you support
02/01/2011 12:22:00
Dont worry ma'am, I'm from the internets!! As for divers, wtf?
02/01/2011 12:26:00
I love your statement "Surely £50k per week in City terms could almost be described as penny-pinchin". That is why Adebayor will not leave on loan but stay to fight for his place. SWP wouldn't leave (where else will he get £70k/wk. Shay Given is also staying put and you are still paying some of Bellamy's wage. What a way to start a good business. Abrahamovic never went that far
02/01/2011 12:29:00
Well you lot won't which is why going forward we will win things and you will win....the League Cup. As for those payers - well their contracts end evenutally and off they go. Abramocivh is now funding something else allegedly so Chelski are on the decline too

So far so good for City. Right in amongst the top four and in their faces. We just won't go away.

I really hope this is nothing but paper talk, albeit i'm slightly concerned he's gone with Wolfsburg to their winter training camp. I'm sure the situation will be far clearer soon.

A. The Sheikhh has access to approximately 71 x the wealth that Abramovich has. Personally, I think that Abramovich would be a dummy to think he could compete with that. What we may be seeing is that he's lost heart in even trying to keep that sort of pace. B. A flight back from Spain takes under 3 hours, and he has to stay fit. C. If they really want him, he'll arrive. D. I've been too busy here and unable to keep in touch. Got to spend January in India with just a guitar and a book to write in, otherwise will under-achieve. Be back in March. Hopefully we'll still be in the same place in the league, or better... I'll make an effort to look at the league once a week, but it'll be all hands on the frets otherwise. Good luck City!
