Dzeko Signing: A Huge Step In The Right Direction

Vital Manchester City member, Daniel Grigg sent us the following.

With the signing of Edin Dzeko (for the first time since the signing of David Silva), one can finally see a real direction to what Manchester City are looking to achieve.

In my opinion Roberto Mancini has seen a flaw in his team and tried to rectify by filling it with what many of us think is the perfect man to help City's push for the title.

Dzeko reminds me a little of Alan Shearer - with his power, ability to score tonnes of goals with regularity and most importantly the fact that he's more dependable. In other words that puts the Bosnian way above Mario Balotelli and Emmanuel Adebayor in terms of their importance to the club and pecking order.

If Peter Crouch has 'good feet for a big man', then Edin Dzeko's footwork can only be called truly fantastic. This was made abundantly clear against Wolves yesterday with a wonderful bit of skill in the second half and then an excellently weighted through ball for Yaya Toure to strike past goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

Comparisons can be made to Dimitar Berbatov in terms of ball control and shot power, while the former Bayer Leverkusen striker's success in the Premier League should remind everyone that Dzeko, having recently signed from Wolfsburg, is likely to continue the form he showed for the Bundesliga club.

I truly have the faith in Edin's ability. Do you?

I have faith, Daniel, and I think everyone else should as well. This was his first game in three weeks since the Bundesliga was on break. He had an assist that was sublime, and he had a few shots that were blocked. Against the less energetic teams we should be watching him bag goal after goal.

Great player, fantastic signing. Good with the head, quick feet and a strong upper body. I hope we are gonna start crossing more often as we have a target man now.

I thought he was great yesterday. It was quite refreshing to see a tall centre forward winning the odd header. Take note Mr Adebayour.

Good player, did well on his debut.

I think Alan Shearer see's a bit of Alan Shearer in him as well, judging by his grin and little comment about him 'getting goals in this team'. An antidote to Hansens dour (very) early outlook of Dzeko!

He really showed what we can expect with that pass to Yaya ...pure quality .....
Doody
fabulous pass to Yaya, not eh fastest guy in the team, but already hits the right buttons for me.

The signs are very good. Shame he will be inelligible for the Leicester second leg, but he'll be taking on Dunney at the weekend.
