City Senior Loans Rises To Eight With Vidal Exit

City and England Youth International Javan Vidal has started a loan spell with Chesterfield until the end of February...

The 21 year old MCFC Academy graduate becomes the eighth senior squad member to be out on loan at this time:

Javan Vidal - Chesterfield
Roque Santa Cruz - Blackburn Rovers
Craig Bellamy - Cardiff City
Nedum Onuoha - Sunderland
Felipe Caicedo - Levante
Abdisalam Ibrahim - Scunthorpe United
Vladimir Weiss - Glasgow Rangers
Wayne Bridge - West Ham United

Goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen has just returned from a six month loan deal at Tranmere Rovers.

Meanwhile, Greg Cunningham was loaned to Leicester City last October but fractured his leg against Hull on New Year's Day and has returned to City for re-habilitation.

Should Michael Johnson, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Shay Given also sign loan deals within the next ten days as widely expected, The Blues will have a full side on temporary secondment.

The price of having too many managers in a short space of time is having too much dead wood in the squad. None of these players were mancini's choices, and some off them are academy graduates who will make a decent living out of football, just not with us. We are letting a lot of players go, presumably to reduce the wage bill, and in the case of Logan to give them one last chance to impress before we ship them on. I can only assume that some of Hughes' more expensive flops are only on loan because nobody is willing to pay their rather inflated wages. Once the squad has been trimmed to Mancini's taste I'm certain we will see another arrival or two and hoepfully one or two of the better academy lads making the breakthrough. I'm just glad that Mancini is being given this opportunity by the owners, as it would appear to demonstrate their faith in him to turn us into a lean mean fighting machine.

Did I say Logan? Meant to say Vidal.

the wages were always going to come back and haunt us when trying to rid ourselves of the over inflated transfer fees we were forced to pay, but I still suspect that these players were forced on Hughes rather than his choice and he would not have negotiated the fees in the first place. How many of those players has he come back for even at not down prices?
