Farewell Neil Young

Manchester City Legend Neil Young has passed away. In the words today of Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee, 'We have lost one of our favourite sons'

A scorer of many important goals for The Blues, it was Neil's legendary strike that won the FA Cup for City against Leicester City in 1969. The club dedicated this season's FA Cup clash with The Foxes to 'Nelly' and produced red and black scarves, the colour of The Citizens kit in that final, for City fans to wear.

The centre forward was deeply touched by the City faithful's show of support for him as he battled against cancer.

Everyone at Vital Manchester City and the Vital Network extend their deepest condoleances to Neil Young's family and friends.

Only the good die Young... R.I.P. Neil. The club fundraiser has earned over 16k for him so far (50% to his family, 50% to charity - not sure what will happen with the first 50% now) showing just how appreciative we are with our club heritage and legends.

Also a great shame he couldn't live to see our hopefully upcoming successes, the first since his era, as he still followed us closely and loved the club.
