Carlos Tevez: For The City Shirt

Derby Build Up: In an interview with citytv released today, Blues Captain Carlos Tevez declares in the 159th derby week his total commitment to the Manchester City cause...

Rags throughout the Home Counties will be seething at the news as Old Trafford once again prepares to 'welcome' the player that for so long it's day tripping dwellers shrieked 'Argentina, Argentina' in worship of.

The Citizens Captain has struck 49 goals inside 19 months for his side and today made a bold move to further win back the hearts and minds of a City support which was rocked by his recent transfer request:

'I want to say directly to everyone at City, from my point of view, that I never walked out of the club or wanted to do any harm to the club, not for anything in the world. I do not think there is anyone who loves the shirt more than me. I show that in every game I play. I give everything I have got.

'I do not speak very often to the press. I just have it in my head, I do my talking out there on the field, which is the most important thing. People might want to have a pop at me but I am completely at ease here. I want to do my best for the City shirt.'

The timing of the City talisman's words could not be better as The Blues prepare to enter the most crucial phase of the season with everything to play for across three league and cup fronts. And of Roberto Mancini's squad's high aspirations this season, El Apache said:

'We are right in there battling it out for a Champions League place. That is what the team is aiming for and where the team ought to be.'

Looking forward to seeing Carlos score the winner at the Swamp and notching up his 50th City goal in the process.

Let's put it this way..it is far more credible than Rooney's soothing words following his outburst. We all know too that next season he will be there alongside Ronaldo, many miles away from Stretford. Someone's got to pay the interest.

I wouldn't put full faith in what he says but I will say, unlike Rooney, he will give you his blood, sweat, and tears for the shirt as long as he stays at the club. Has to be frontrunner for Player of the Year, although unlikely to get it as he doesn't play for one of the media's favourite teams.

What a load of capital BS. Just as Rooney said after his bank balance was injected with a few more million, Carlos couldn't force his move so he withdrew his transfer request and professed his love for the club. When even the likes of Andy Carroll are handing in transfer requests you have to wonder whether all modern day footballers really give a toss about the cause
