'If It's Football, It's Vital'

SWP Determined To Be Part Of City Holy Grail Quest

Dare City fans begin to smell the lavish hotdogs on sale at Europe's elite clubs? If Shaun Wright-Phillips' ambition is realised, then they certainly can...

Third placed City have a tremendous opportunity to secure the holy grail of Champions League football. Can the City winger help fire the club into the European big time?

Wrighty's season has threatened to turn around since his January transfer request and subsequent loan move to Sunday's opponents Fulham fell through:

'I never wanted to leave in the first place. I still see a bright future for me here. It is just about getting chances. I have played a few games recently and now I just want to keep doing well...if I am wanted here I will stay.'

The club's most celebrated Academy graduate added:

'Silverware would mean more to me obviously because of my background. It would be nice to win something for this club.'

Do you think Shaunie Wright can still cut the mustard and play a major role in the past three months of the season? Give us a shout here or in the VMC Forums.

Head for the VMC Match Day Experience Forum for the build up and beyond to City's next tremendously important match. A league win is badly needed against Leslie Hughes' Fulham in order to maintain the Top Four challenge.

He's really not good enough and it is painful to say. If anyone, we'd want Shauny to be part of the times to come but it is so obvious he doesn't really make the grade anymore. His cameo against Stretford gave renewed hope, but he has been back to mediocrity in his appearances since then. He can't seem to get past the first man 9 times out of 10 and what is a winger if he can't beat the man and get a cross in?

Agree with Stu. 10 years of being quick, running down blind alleys and hitting the first defender when strikers are open in the middle.

I think it again comes down to games, in times gone by if you didn't play in the first team then you played in the reserves, these days these players don't and therefore it is not easy just to go out there and star, you need games to get you into form and that is whatis lacking with Shaun
