'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Video: Roberto Martinez Disappointed With Defeat

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez told BBC Match of the Day viewers just how disappointed he was with the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.

'Today we were fantastic, in a very difficult game we were the better side in every single department, for that the players deserve a lot of credit.'

'Big decisions again today went against us. I felt the challenge from Richards on Tom Cleverley was a straight red card, but those decisions you cannot control.'

'We controlled the tempo of the whole game and that was probably the most pleasing aspect. We had more corners than the home side, more possession, better possession, better chances. I can guarantee you, I have seen Manchester City in a lot of games this season at home and I've not seen an away team with an arrogance on the ball, that composure and taking control of the whole game.'

Great manager of the future, passionate about his team and despite their predicament refuses to send them out to stop and block. The season may end poorly for Wigan, but they must stick with Martinez.
