Silence for George Best?

Now I don't wish to sound heartless but a minutes silence for George Best of Manchester United at a Manchester City v Liverpool fixture?

What are the authorities playing at?

Now I, like many other blues (and no doubt Liverpool fans) respect what this man achieved as a footballer and the fact he lived his life to the full and I have no hesitation in saying I will respect any silence. Does anyone really expect it to be observed fully though?

Both City and Liverpool have their minority element of undesirables who will not hesitate to hijack a silence for someone who is part of Manchester United's history. Can I only ask that if anyone does not wish to observe such a silence that they remain in the bars and at very least raise a glass to a man who would perhaps appreciate it that way.

Have your say on the proposed minutes silence in the forums.

Well said AL.
AC
As mentioned on other city forum, a round of applause (or even a glass raised in his honour as you suggest) would be more appropriate.
