Milner In Line For Return To Action

Milner In Line For Return To Action

All of a sudden, Roberto Mancini's squad is beginning to generate options again. James Milner is heading for the City bench tomorrow night...

The England international midfielder has suffered hamstring trouble over a 2 month period but is close to full fitness.

Milner will be the first to admit that his form has been erratic since leaving Aston Villa and will relish any opportunity to get back in the spotlight.

Following the returns of Shaun Wright-Phillips, Nigel de Jong and Vincent Kompany plus the imminent re-emergence of Adam Johnson, barring further problems against Dynamo Kiev Mancio could have a full squad to select from going into battle at Chelsea on Sunday.

Following 48 competitive games that would be welcome news indeed.

"Return to action"? Never realised he had actually been in action. Shadow of himself since joining you, maybe he never was a great talent but merely an average player on good form. Lesson learnt (hopefully), English talent is generally overrated and quite poor (par the odd few), definately sub-standard to your expectations and demands.

Maybe if you watched City games you'd realise he has been in action TF7, quite a lot of it in fact. Hasn't hit the heights of last season but will come good, hopefully he gets more opportunities in the middle where he thrived at Villa rather than out wide where Mancini seems to prefer to use him.

He's a good player but is being used as a utility man, often down the right. The few times he's played central midfield he has looked better. Mancini likes versatile players but has a habit of playing them out of their natural position (Boateng at RB and Milner at RW for example).
