VMC Man of The Match No 49 versus Chelsea

There's a first time for everything and Joleon Lescott's dramatic improvement in form sees him register his first VMC Forum Man of The Match vote of the season...

Lescott seems to be growing in stature with every start, clearly building on the confidence his selection gives. The confidence generated by playing alongside City's defensive rock Vincent Kompany is further bolstering his resurgence.

Kompany himself accepted the responsibility of the captain's armband with relish at Chelsea. It didn't compromise his focus in the slightest.

Meanwhile, Nigel De Jong is flying and looking very sharp.

A big thanks to Mario Balotelli's fanclub for recognising his 9 minute run out.

Our entire defensive unit except Kolarov and to a lesser extent Barry were outstanding yesterday. They had to keep out some of the most dangerous attackers in the league just like against Arsenal and did so perfectly until a needless foul by Micah on the touchline gave Chelsea the free-kick they scored from. You really can't fault any of them too much, Lescott, Kompany, and De Jong were excellent. Lescott has definitely staked a claim for an England starting place lately.
