We've just about run out of superlatives that describe Vincent Kompany's superhuman performances in this campaign.

City have conceded 27 league goals this season, a figure only Chelsea can beat with 25 and a large part of that defensive shut out has to be down to the imperious Belgian.

25 years old next Sunday, he marshalled and commanded City's huge back line impeccably against The Black Cats and once again, did not put a foot wrong. Even the anti-City brigade hacks in The Street of Shame have begun to talk up Vinnie as the finest Premier League defender this season. The way he is playing you'd be hard pressed to find a better centre back in Europe.
