Three Man City Players Named In England U-21 Squad

England Under-21 Head Coach Stuart Pearce has named his provisional 40-man squad for this summer's 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Denmark

England start their campaign with a tricky fixture against Spain (12 June) before taking on Ukraine (15 June) and Czech Republic (19 June).

City players included are defenders Ben Mee currently on loan at Leicester City, Micah Richards and Kieran Trippier, currently on loan at Barnsley.

I see 23 year old Micah Richards has been banished to the U-21's yet again! Don't know what he's done to Crapello to be treated so poorly, but he's clearly a better RB than Glen Johnson, so I haven't a clue why he doesn't make the senior squad.

That'll do for me. Micah was needlessly knacked turning out for the U21's recently.

Richards' eligibility for the U21s will mercifully end soon. He's been playing for them since 2006, you have to wonder if that is some kind of record at U21 level. I really hope he can break into the England squad for the Euros as he's much better than the two Capello picked ahead of him recently, Glen Johnson and Kyle Walker(!). Richards has been one of the best RBs in the league this season, irrespective of nationality.
