When The Boateng Goes Out?

German newspaper Bild reports today that Bayern Munich are in negotiations with giant City defender Jerome Boateng over an imminent transfer out of town...

The 22 year old German International has endured a lot of bad luck during his season at Eastlands. Repeated injuries have seen his league and cup starts for the FA Cup winners reduced to 18 from a possible 57.

When opportunity has knocked, the likes of Kompany, Zabaleta, Richards and Lescott have been in such fine form that he was relegated to the Berti.

Boateng is currently the only injured player in the City squad.

There has been much speculation over a possible move back to his home land of late which led to City boss Roberto Mancini stating earlier this month that Boateng is going nowhere.

However, Bild quotes incoming Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes as saying that 'Negotiations are underway.'

Boateng joined The Citizens from Hamburg for a fee of £10,460,000 last June.

I don't want to see him go as injuries have prevented him from showing what he can do and also having a fair crack at the whip. However, if he's not happy then perhaps its best if he does move back to Germany.

Does this mean that Ned's boat comes back in?
Spooks
I think Ned's boat may have sailed on Soccer AM last summer. It is a good shout though because if we lose Kolo long term and Boateng is sold we only have Boyata as part of our settled squad as back up. If Ned came back we wouldn't be waiting on him to settle in like we would a new signing.

Boateng should be kept unless they bid silly money, he has the potential to be a top, top CB. Mancini played him on the right and he doesn't work there in this league but the few times he got to play CB he was good. I'd rather have him than Gary effin' Cahill who we keep getting linked with.
StuMCFC
He has had a difficult season but I would like to see him stay so we can see what he is really like as a player.....
Doody
Shouldn't Bayern be negotiating with City rather than Boateng? Personally won't believe it until the club says he's free to leave.

I'd prefer him to stay like others have said. You never know when you might need cover at CB. As well, he is young, had international experience and has had a season at the club...lots of positives, there.
NZblue
Mancini says he's staying.
