Champions League Draw Countdown

Barcelona showed the world how football is meant to be played following their crushing 3-1 Champions League final win over Manchester United. The spectacle was mouth-watering and the entertainment value was top-notch, however, the game is history now and we Manchester City fans can look forward to season 2011/12 Champions League draw.

There are some qualification places still to be settled nevertheless it appears City will just make it into Pot Three for the draw, which takes place on August 25.

City cannot be in the same group as United, Chelsea and Arsenal, should the Gunners make it out of the qualifying stage.

Seedings as they stand are as follows:

POT ONE - qualified: Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Porto, Inter Milan. Favourites to qualify: Bayern Munich, Arsenal.

POT TWO - qualified: AC Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk, Valencia, CSKA Moscow, Marseille. Favourites to qualify: Benfica, Villarreal, Dynamo Kiev or Lyon.

POT THREE - qualified: Zenit St Petersburg, Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, Manchester City. Favourites to qualify: Rangers, Copenhagen.

POT FOUR - qualified: Lille, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Swiss champions, Otelul Galati. Favourites to qualify: BATE Borisov, Maccabi Haifa, Dinamo Zagreb or Salzburg

Who would you prefer in the group stages and how far do you think City can go?

Right. We're gonna get Barcelona, AC Milan and Lille I reckon.

I'd like Barcelona in the group stages. Just imagine Messi and co. strutting thier stuff at CoMS. Anyway, if Arsenal can beat them at home there's no reason why we can't. [Edited by Tudor]

I don't mind who we get as long as we get out of the group, which I think we should be doing. As long as we don't get like Spurs fans were this season by expecting us to go all the way and win it. Don't get me wrong, we have a chance of course but lets take it a step at a time. We're not like those idiots down the road either, thinking we have a divine right to win everything. We'll have to work for it, but as long as our lads do us proud, I wont have any complaints :)

this year will be one of learning, and as long as we get out of the group stages, we can consider it a success, as long as we qualify for 2012/13 seasons campaign, as Champions of England, then we can go for winning the Champions league in that season or the one after, next year will not be our year for the CL title.... but i have been wrong before, on numourous occasions.....
