Felipe Caicedo Appears To Be On His Way

Roberto Mancini is expected to have a summer clear-out in an attempt to clear several mediocre players he inherited from Mark Hughes, and by the looks of it Felipe Caicedo might be the first to leave.

City signed the Ecuador international in January 2008 from Basel on a four-and-a-half year deal worth £5.2m but failed to impress during his brief time in Manchester. Favourites to capture the 22-year-old strikers signature is Lokomotiv Moscow for a mere £1m

Felipe has by all accounts attracted wide interest from across Europe after scoring 13 goals in 27 La Liga games on loan at Levante this season.

Fingers crossed, that's the name I had down to leave first in the "Win the FA Cup DVD" competition! Seriously though, bit sad to see the lad go, especially as he still has time left on his contract - he may never have set the PL alight, but he scored a couple of crucial goals for us and looked a good prospect. Whoever sanctioned this deal should remember the golden rule, ie "Never say never! Sure big Cass could have done a far better job for us than the waste of space formerly known as Jo, and even if he was surplus to requirements, it would be us pocketing the profits, not Levante. Altogether now - DOH!

I don't believe Lokimotiv will get him that cheap Tudor. Alledgedly Levante have an option to buy him this cheap as per the terms of the loan agreement with City however some reports are suggesting now that Levante can't afford him even at the price. If we are to sell him to anyone else bar Levante I'd expect the transfer fee to be in the region of £5-10 million. Wherever Felipe ends up the very best of luck to him, good player with a good attitude and a bright future I suspect.

We didn't want him to be got shot of on this site. Big powerful foward who could have given us that bit more of an option when required last season.

Yeah, really think he has what it takes to bang in around 15 a season in the Premier League now. Surprised no English clubs are in for him, he could definitely have similar impact as the "surprise" strikers last season like Odemwingie (WBA) and Ba (West Ham).

I had a bit of a soft spot for him......OK he was big and lumbering but there was something there which we never managed to get out of him.
