Who Will Emmanuel Adebayor Play For Next Season?

On 18 July 2009, Emmanuel Adebayor signed a five-year contract with Manchester City, for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £25 million, however, his City career is in turmoil and a move away is inevitable. The question now is...

Who will Emmanuel Adebayor play for next season?

With his Real Madrid loan deal finished the 27-year-old striker has some serious thinking to do before the summer transfer window closes. Does he stay at Eastlands and fight for his place or does he resign himself to the fact that he will undoubtedly have to find another club.

The Togolese footballer's agent, Phil Smith, told talkSPORT a few days ago that Emmanuel is a player that will appeal to a lot of managers in the Premier League.

'At the time he was brought as a direct replacement for Samuel Eto'o who didn't come [to Manchester City]. It was their development phase and most clubs move quite slowly in developing like that but City have, well it's there for all to see.'

'He's almost a victim in that respect of them developing a bit faster and quicker than some other clubs.'

'He's got a reputation for being able to play in Europe, he's gone on to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. I'm not sure if he is going to go back to Real Madrid but he is certainly in demand but he's earning a lot of money.'

'He will appeal to various managers, it's a difficult deal to put together but the onus will certainly be on Manchester City to some degree.'

'It's a difficult equation to make and the player will have some decisions to make as well.'

I'd say a foreign club is most likely but if we make a bid for Modric then Adebayor could be dangled as bait as Harry seems to be a fan of him and Spurs need a striker.

Sounds good to me Stu. To be fair, he's not a bad player. He is the right age, has the physique, has the skill to a certain degree and when he was in a run of games under Hughes, he actually did the job. Scored 14 league goals in his first, stunted season as he was a bit-part player towards the end when Mancini moved in. He isn't the man for us anymore but he would do a good job for another Premiership team and so Harry might be right in that regard. Just don't think the spuds fans will embrace a former gooner - though the gooners hate him so that might be his saving grace for them.
